  • Patent number: 9491549
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide an audio having intended sound quality to a user even when a headphone that is different from a headphone used for generating equalizer information is used. A correcting section corrects equalizer curve stored in an equalizer curve storage section based on a correction curve that is a gain difference of a frequency characteristic between a first headphone and a second headphone when the second headphone the frequency characteristic of which is different from that of the first headphone is used so as to output the corrected equalizer curve to a reproducing section. The reproducing section executes an equalizing process based on the equalizer curve output from the correcting section.

  • Patent number: 9407225
Abstract: A sound enhancing system is disclosed for use with an engine of a vehicle to amplify engine sounds produced by the engine over a predetermined engine RPM operating range. The sound enhancing system includes a sound enhancing component which may be fixedly mounted within an engine compartment so that it does not move relative to the engine as the engine experiences engine roll during changes in engine RPM or a load experienced by the engine. An inlet duct communicates with an inlet of the sound enhancing component and receives air pulsations drawn in by the vehicle's induction system, and is able to vary in length as the engine roll occurs, when engine RPM increases and decreases. This enables a frequency response of the sound enhancing component to be modified in accordance with changing engine RPM or the load experienced by the engine.

  • Patent number: 9383964
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for independent audio volume control. For example, an audio component (e.g., implemented in an element of an audio setup) may control generation and/or outputting of a combined-game-and-chat audio signals. The audio component may receive user input comprising one or both of: a setting for a desired volume of a chat audio component of the combined-game-and-chat audio signal, and a setting for a desired volume of a game audio component of the combined-game-and-chat audio signal. The audio component may determine, based on the user input, a corresponding mix setting for mixing together of the chat audio component and the game audio component in an audio source to generate the combined-game-and-chat audio signal and a corresponding volume setting applicable at an audio output element; provide the mix setting to the audio source; and provide the volume setting to the audio output element.

  • Patent number: 9344822
Abstract: Embodiments for estimating nonlinear distortion and for tuning parameter(s) for boosting sounds are described. A test signal including at least two simultaneous audible tones is generated. One tone is a fundamental tone and others are harmonics of the fundamental tone. The ratio of the number of nonlinear distortion products not coincident with the frequencies of the tones to the number of all the products is, as an example, greater than 0.80. A spectral analysis is performed on the response of a loudspeaker to the test signal. A nonlinear distortion value is estimated by regarding the energy at harmonic frequencies of the fundamental tone signal but not at the frequencies of the tone signals as contribution from the nonlinear distortion. A subjectively correlated measure of nonlinear distortion is obtained for tuning a parameter for boosting low frequency outputs of one or more loudspeakers.

  • Patent number: 9338577
Abstract: Sounds are reproduced from a plurality of sound source objects at the same timing. A sound volume and a localization of each sound when the sounds are received by a virtual microphone are calculated. Any one sound source object is determined as a weight assignment target on the basis of the sound volumes. Then, when the sounds reproduced simultaneously from the sound source objects are outputted as a single sound, weight assignment is performed such that the localization of the sound of the sound source object determined as the weight assignment target is more greatly reflected, and a localization of an outputted sound on the basis of the localization of each sound source object. On the basis of this localization, an audio signal is generated and outputted.

  • Patent number: 9282405
Abstract: Methods and systems for cancellation of table noise in a speaker system used for video or audio conferencing are disclosed. Table noise is cancelled by using a vertical microphone array to distinguish the tilt angle of sound received by a microphone. If the sound is close to horizontal, the audio is muted. If the sound is above a given angle from horizontal, it is not muted, as this indicates a person speaking. This eliminates paper rustling, keyboard clicks and the like.

  • Patent number: 9275627
Abstract: The invention relates to a closed loop control system for active noise reduction, comprising a speaker and an adding device connected to the speaker. A feedforward control and a feedback control each comprise a microphone for recording noise interference or for recording a sound output by the speaker. Control networks for forming a corresponding control parameter are coupled to the corresponding microphones and are connected to the adding device at the output side thereof. According to the invention, the feedback control for noise reduction is adapted on the basis of a first acoustic ratio and the feedforward control for noise reduction is adapted on the basis of a second acoustic ratio. The control network of the feedback control is designed to at least partially compensate for the control parameter of the feedforward control when current acoustic ratios change in the direction of the first acoustic ratio.
