  • Patent number: 9970724
Abstract: This device is a trigger safety designed for use on the Colt model 1911 pistol and clones of the same design. The primary safety of the 1911 design is a thumb safety located on the left rear of the firearm. The location of the thumb safety is not an issue under normal circumstances, but in high stressful situations where the shooter is anticipating the firing of the firearm the thumb safety location is troublesome. Under stress the shooter may forget that the thumb safety is engaged, and may pull the trigger without the gun firing. The time needed to disengage the thumb safety may result in a life or death situation. This device incorporates a two stage safety in the trigger system that functions when all other safeties are in the off position. The location within the trigger eliminates the fractional second delay that the thumb safety may cause.

  • Patent number: 9970741
Abstract: The cartridge case preparation rotor device trims cartridge cases to overall length correctly and further prepares them for reloading. The rotor holds multiple case preparation tools so that the user may conveniently and precisely apply them more squarely to a turning cartridge case. The rotor slides and turns on a rod mounted opposite a variable speed motor fitted with a chuck turning a case holder. Flexibility of the rod and oscillation of the rotor permit each tool to follow case eccentricity. An enlarged grip on the case holder simplifies installation and removal of cases. A neck cleaning tool cleans the inside and outside of the case neck simultaneously. The rotor may be slid along and turned upon the rod manually, or the motor and rotor can be mounted on a progressive press. The pushbutton control switch can be pressed by hand, or set on the floor as a foot switch.

  • Patent number: 9970723
Abstract: A trigger mechanism for a firearm includes a sear which interacts with a trigger. The sear and trigger are held in contact by a sear block. The sear block has dogs which engage respective locking surfaces on the sear and trigger. Pivoting motion of the sear block disengages the dogs from the trigger and sear and allows the trigger to pivot and release the sear to discharge the firearm. When the dogs are engaged with the sear and trigger the resistance to inadvertent discharge due to inertial loads imposed on the mechanism when the firearm is dropped is increased.

  • Patent number: 9958228
Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatuses, systems, methods, and machine readable media for activating a portable camera in response to the activity of a firearm, and for implementing and using a system for identifying an individual who discharged a firearm, and for recording, assessing, identifying, and transmitting information related to the firing of a firearm, and for monitoring the status of an implement at a mount, and for using a charging device for delivering electrical power to components of a firearm. A communications channel may be established between a firearm telematics sensor and a video camera, sometimes by means of intermediary devices. A communications channel may be established between a mount (e.g., holster) telematics device and local and/or remote monitoring service components, sometimes by means of intermediary devices. When the telematics sensor detects that its associated firearm is removed from its holster, or in motion, or being discharged, it may signal the camera to initiate recording.

  • Patent number: 9958226
Abstract: The present invention relates to firearms. In some cases, the firearms include a firing pin; a first ignition chamber that is configured to house a round of ammunition and to move proximally with respect to the firing pin so that when the round is in the first chamber and the firearm is fired, a portion of the round is struck against the firing pin. In some cases, the firearms also include a follower configured to be movable proximally and distally within the firearm and to be biased against a primer or proximal end of the round such that the follower is configured to selectively hold the round within the first chamber as the first chamber moves proximally, and such that proximal movement of the follower stops when the round strikes the firing pin, so that the follower acts as a bolt face for the round. Other implementations are also described.
