  • Patent number: 5573434
Abstract: Female electrical contact member is made from a metal blank cut out and bent to shape so that it has at one end electrical conductor fixing elements and at the other end a rectangular section passage having a bottom wall, a top wall and two side walls from which are cut out elastic bars bent towards the interior of the passage to constitute a clamp adapted to grip a male tongue inserted through an insertion opening of the passage. The free ends of the bars face towards the insertion opening. The elastic action of the bars is strengthened by bracing bars of an attached, initially separate member cooperating with the elastic bars. The attached member comprises two plates fixed against the side walls and from which the bracing bars are cut out.

  • Patent number: 5460549
Abstract: A connector is described which has contacts projecting through passages of an insulator, which provides a reliable fluid-tight seal at each contact. Each insulator passage (36, FIG. 7) has first and second passage portions (51, 52) of different diameters, and each contact has contact portions (56, 57) lying in corresponding passage portions, with each contact portion having an enlargement (41, 42) lying in interference fit with a corresponding passage portion. The different diameters of the passage portions and enlargements, provide a plurality of different seal locations, with each seal location being maximally deformed only by the enlargement which lies in an interference fit therein. A front end of the connector is retained within the rear end of a second connector, by a largely U-shaped spring (100, FIG. 5) whose base (102) can be depressed to move down the opposite legs (104, 106) of the spring.

  • Patent number: 5445540
Abstract: An attachment member attachable to an existing compact fluorescent lamp socket includes a pair of sidewalls and an endwall defining an inclined surface. A pair of placement apertures are engageable with corresponding engagement apertures in an attachment surface of the compact fluorescent lamp socket. Additionally, the attachment member includes a pair of placement posts corresponding to second fixture engagement apertures in the attachment surface of the compact fluorescent lamp socket. The attachment member efficiently spaces a compact fluorescent lamp from the ballast relative to a plane parallel to the fixture engaging surface of the attachment member, thereby maximizing the illumination potential of the light fixture.
