Patent number: 11624397Abstract: A fastening nut device for fastening one substrate to another includes a cylinder, which is circumferentially larger proximate to a first end thereof, thus defining a first section and a second section of the cylinder. External threading, which is reversed, is positioned on the second section and extends from a second end of the cylinder. The cylinder can be inserted into a first hole positioned in a first substrate by counterclockwise rotation. The first section of the cylinder abuts a first face of the first substrate and the second end of the cylinder is accessible from a second face of the first substrate. A channel, which is internally threaded, extends into the cylinder from the second end. A threaded fastener, which is engaged to a second substrate, can be inserted by clockwise rotation into the channel to engage the second substrate to the second face of the first substrate.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2020Date of Patent: April 11, 2023Inventor: Daniel Stempfley

Patent number: 11613866Abstract: Disclosed is retainer for a nut. The retainer is positioned within the frame that provides access to a closure. The closure, in turn, is secured by way of a removable cover. The cover is removably secured to the frame by way of a series of bolts and corresponding nuts. The nuts are secured by way of the retainer to allow the bolts to be secured. Each retainer includes upper and lower opening and an internal area. The upper opening is preferably angled such that the nut must be oriented at an angle in order to be inserted into the retainer. The internal area of each retainer includes a ledge with an angled step. The angled step function is rotating the nut to a horizontal orientation after it has been inserted into the retainer. Thereafter, a user can access the nut with a finger through the lower opening. This allows the nut to be rotated and removed via the upper opening. The various features of the present retainer, and the manner in which they interrelate, are described in greater detail hereinafter.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 2020Date of Patent: March 28, 2023Assignee: NUSFC, LLCInventors: Oleg Dzhidzhora, Adam W. Patent number: 11549531Abstract: An insert for the attachment of objects to composite or plastic panels consists of two parts, a retainer and an insert. The retainer has a through-hole and knurls on its perimeter for gripping the walls of a receiving hole in the composite or plastic panel. The insert has multiple self-clinching features at increasing diameters which when inserted into the retainer rigidly attach it to the retainer. The panel is rigidly clamped between opposite sides of the panel by an enlarged head of the retainer and an opposing flange on the insert. The self-clinching features of different diameter permit the device to be used with panels of different thickness and allow a large tolerance range. A plain or threaded stud can be substituted for the threaded hole of the insert. Both the retainer and the insert can be metallic.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2019Date of Patent: January 10, 2023Assignee: Penn Engineering & Manufacturing Corp.Inventor: Jonathan Brunk

Patent number: 11549538Abstract: In implementations of a pressure lock retention fastener, the fastener assembly includes an insert sized for insertion into a fastener hole in a first panel. The fastener assembly has a threaded collet sized to slide in the insert and has expandable flanges that extend below the insert. The expandable flanges are sized for insertion into an aligned hole in a second panel. The fastener assembly also includes a screw installable through the insert to engage the threaded collet. The screw exerts a force that pushes the expandable flanges outward as screw rotation drives the screw into the threaded collet, and ridge locks of the expandable flanges seat up against the second panel effective to fasten the panels together. In implementations, a plate is installable between the panels with slotted holes having anti-rotation tabs that prevent a fastener assembly from spinning in the panel holes.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2019Date of Patent: January 10, 2023Inventor: Stephen M.
