  • Patent number: 4383430
Abstract: A bending machine for reinforcement mesh wires wherein the bending-rod which bends the wires around mandrels is supported by arms extending beneath the rest upon which the mesh is located in use. The bending-beam which carries the rod is driven in an arcuate path to perform the bending operation by means of cranks of adjustable eccentricity which co-act with a web member to which the beam is adjustably coupled. The components are so arranged that an imaginary line intersecting the crank axes is parallel to a similar line intersecting the bearings whereby the cranks are coupled to the web member.

  • Patent number: 4380922
Abstract: A tube bender construction for manual operation in bending a tube. The tube bender includes a mandrel defining a bending groove into which the tube is urged by a forming member mounted to the mandrel to swing about a bending axis of the bending groove. The tube to be bent is held against longitudinal movement during the bending operation by tube holding structure arranged to clamp the tube against an extended groove portion of the mandrel. Movement of the forming member about the bending axis is effected by manipulation of a pair of handles. Indicia are provided on the mandrel and forming member for indicating the angular extent of a bend provided in the tube as a result of the swinging movement of the forming member about the bending axis. At least one of the first and second indicia are adjustably mounted to provide accurate correlation between the indicia in indicating the bend angular extent.

  • Patent number: 4380923
Abstract: A rivet bucking tool (10) is provided with a damping piston (13) actuated by air pressure in a damping chamber (42) of the tool housing (11) of sufficient volume to isolate the housing (11) from undesirable vibration. The piston (13) forms an assembly with a bucking die (23) so as to inertially restrain recoil jointly therewith. A pressure reduction valve (28) is provided on the tool (10) for selectively setting the pressure in the damping chamber (42) to produce an elastic force bias on the assembly approximately equal to the optimal manual bucking force required for properly forming the rivet head and bucking in the riveting work at hand.

  • Patent number: 4380145
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for the feeding of oval-shaped open end wire links seriatim, from an open-link feeding bar magazine, to a groove in a movable link-forming slide tool. Subsequent upward movement of the link-forming slide tool carries the open oval-shaped wire link into internal surface contact with a fixed position link center-forming anvil. Closed chain links or findings are mounted over the ends of the open wire links at this point, and further upward movement of the link-forming slide tool results in the closure of the previously open wire link to a desired configuration such as oval or round, and its assembly with the preformed ornamental objects is completed. The present device may be employed in various power driven modes.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for the bending of metal-sheet section comprises a bending saddle engaging the section at two spaced-apart points and a bending anvil or support engaging the workpiece at two other points disposed outwardly of the first two points. The bending saddle is pressed toward the anvil so that the sheet bends substantially uniformly between the two bearing points of the saddle and the two support points of the anvil with substantially equal bending force components equidistant from the center between the support points. After each bending stroke of the saddle, the workpiece is advanced by an increment less than the length of the uniformly bent section between the two saddle bearing points.

  • Patent number: 4375760
Abstract: An anvil for a blind riveting tool comprises an annular disc 23 of resilient nylon-6 material received in a counterbore in the front of a rigid backing or mount 25. When the tool is used to place a blind rivet, the nylon disc contacts the rivet shell head to support it against the pull of the mandrel. The disc is flexible enough to conform to the shape of the rivet head, thus maximizing the contact area and minimizing the contact thrust, and is soft enough not to damage or mark the rivet head surface, which may, for example, be painted.

  • Patent number: 4372145
Abstract: For bending wiring conduits projecting up from the floor of a building under construction, the present apparatus has a padded block providing a lower abutment, a grooved block providing an upper abutment located above and behind the lower abutment, and a jaw pivotally movable from a retracted position on the opposite side of the conduits from the lower and upper abutments to an extended position toward the upper abutment to force the conduits against the padded block for forming lower bends in the conduits. The jaw has a grooved convex face which engages the conduits to form upper bends of the opposite curvature in the conduits between the lower and upper abutments. The padded block is adjustable to determine the amount the conduits are bent. The grooves in the convex face of the jaw are laterally spaced to spread the conduits apart laterally from their spacing at the floor. A manually pivoted handle actuates the jaw through a mechanical linkage.
