  • Patent number: 6927534
Abstract: A field emission device (FED) and a method for fabricating the FED are provided. The FED includes micro-tips with nano-sized surface features, and a focus gate electrode over a gate electrode, wherein one or more gates of the gate electrode is exposed through a single opening of the focus gate electrode. In the FED, occurrence of arcing is suppressed. Although an arcing occurs in the FED, damage of a cathode and a resistor layer is prevented, so that a higher working voltage can be applied to the anode. Also, due to the micro-tips with nano-sized surface features, the emission current density of the FED increases, so that a high-brightness display can be achieved with the FED. The gate turn-on voltage can be lowered due to the micro-tip as a collection of nano-sized tips, thereby reducing power consumption.

  • Patent number: 6919673
Abstract: A shadow mask is arranged to face a phosphor screen formed on an inner surface of a panel. A plurality of aperture columns are formed in parallel in the shadow mask. Each aperture column includes a plurality of apertures arranged in line at a predetermined interval. On both sides of each aperture column on the surface of the shadow mask facing the electron gun, stripe-shaped dielectric layers for acting on electron beams toward the apertures are formed respectively, and extend in substantial parallel with the aperture columns. The shadow mask is manufactured in such a manner that stripe-shaped insulating material layers are formed on the surface of a mask base material facing the electron gun, the mask base material is thereafter shaped into a predetermined shape, and the insulating material layers on the shaped mask are sintered.

  • Patent number: 6910936
Abstract: In manufacturing surface conduction electron-emitting devices, a polymer thin film is arranged to connect a pair of electrodes and then transformed into a low resistivity film (carbon film) by irradiating the polymer film with an energy beam. The energy beam irradiation is scanned over the polymer films plural times so that heat due to the energy beam irradiation does not affect other members which constitute the device and also the processing time for carbonization of polymer film is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6909234
Abstract: A package structure of a composite LED is to package an LED chip into a SMD LED package subbody component. Then, a single SMD LED package subbody component or multiple SMD LED package subbody components may be packaged into a large sized recessed package mother body, thereby forming the package structure of a composite LED. Thus, the quality is better, and the color shift is less, thereby enhancing the quality of production, and thereby decreasing the cost of production. In addition, the SMD LED may be previously classified according to the features, and may then be packaged into the mother body, thereby obtaining better features, such as Vf, color, brightness or the like.

  • Patent number: 6885151
Abstract: A flat lamp with horizontal facing electrodes is provided, in which a front substrate and a rear substrate are spaced such as to face each other. Walls between the front and rear substrates form a discharging space filled with a discharge gas. A plurality of front electrodes and a plurality of rear electrodes are provided on facing surfaces of the front and rear substrates, respectively. The front and rear electrodes, formed in strips, are arranged in such a way that the front electrodes alternate with the rear electrodes. Accordingly, the discharging distance between front and rear electrodes is lengthened, and many fine discharging operations occur between tip electrodes extending from the lateral sides of the electrode strips and flat portions of corresponding electrode strips. Therefore, a current concentration is prevented, thereby achieving uniform discharging. Also, brightness of the flat lamp increases.
