  • Patent number: 9781292
Abstract: Obtaining a digital image tagged with corrected image direction information includes capturing and storing a digital image of a scene defined by a field of view of a lifelog camera (10) used to capture the image. A forward-facing direction (28) of a user of the lifelog camera is identified, the forward-facing direction within the field of view of the lifelog camera. A component of the image that contains image data corresponding to a portion of the scene containing the forward-facing direction of the user is also identified. The digital image is then tagged with the identified component.

  • Patent number: 9749530
Abstract: The interchangeable lens is detachably attachable to an image capturing apparatus. The lens includes an electronic display to display information, and a lens controller to control an operation of the lens. The lens controller is capable of setting an operation state of the lens to a normal operation state where the interchangeable lens communicates with the image capturing apparatus and displays the information on the electronic display and to a first low power consumption state in which the interchangeable lens displays the information on the electronic display with a power consumption of the interchangeable lens lower than that in the normal operation state. The lens controller transfers the operation state from the normal operation state to the first low power consumption state, in response to receipt of a power lowering instruction for lowering the power consumption of the interchangeable lens from the image capturing apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9733701
Abstract: The present invention provides a display apparatus and a display method for realizing control for display operations by a user precisely reflecting the user's status, i.e., the user's intentions, visual state and physical conditions. Worn as an eyeglass-like or head-mount wearable unit for example, the display apparatus of the present invention enables the user to recognize visibly various images on the display unit positioned in front of the user's eyes thereby providing the picked up images, reproduced images, and received images. As control for various display operations such as switching between the display state and the see-through state, display operation mode and selecting sources, the display apparatus of the present invention acquires information about either behavior or physical status of the user, and determines either intention or status of the user in accordance with the acquired information, thereby controlling the display operation appropriately on the basis of the determination result.

  • Patent number: 9727993
Abstract: An in-image capturing unit captures an image of a subject in a direction facing a front surface of an image processing apparatus, as an in-image, and an out-image capturing unit captures an image of a subject in a direction facing a back surface of the image processing apparatus, as an out-image. A signal processing unit obtains a binary image as additional information, the binary image being obtained by binarizing the in-image, for example, and adds the additional information to image data of the out-image. Additionally, the signal processing unit combines the binary image serving as the additional information with the out-image when the out-image is reproduced, and displays the resultant image. In such a manner, information obtained from the in-image is added to the out-image as additional information, and thus it is possible to more effectively display an image and improve convenience.

  • Patent number: 9721177
Abstract: During an information-extraction technique, visual suitability indicators may be displayed to a user of the electronic device to assist the user in acquiring an image of a document that is suitable for subsequent extraction of textual information. For example, an imaging application executed by the electronic device may display, in a window associated with the imaging application, a visual suitability indicator of a tilt orientation of the electronic device relative to a plane of the document. When the tilt orientation falls within a predefined range, the electronic device may modify the visual suitability indicators to provide visual feedback to the user. Then, the electronic device may acquire the image of the document using an imaging device, which is integrated into the electronic device. Next, the electronic device may extract the textual information from the image of the document using optical character recognition.

  • Patent number: 9692997
Abstract: Certain aspects relate to systems and techniques for full well capacity extension. For example, a storage capacitor included in the pixel readout architecture can enable multiple charge dumps from a pixel in the analog domain, extending the full well capacity of the pixel. Further, multiple reads can be integrated in the digital domain using a memory, for example DRAM, in communication with the pixel readout architecture. This also can effectively multiply a small pixel's full well capacity. In some examples, multiple reads in the digital domain can be used to reduce, eliminate, or compensate for kTC noise in the pixel readout architecture.
