  • Patent number: 9726485
Abstract: The method employs a computer interconnected with a GPS transceiver and a distance measurement means and operatively interconnected with a digital camera, all provided on a moving vehicle, in order to acquire a plurality of geographic location related images. A first geographic position is obtained from the GPS transceiver and a plurality of distance measurements are then received before a second geographic position is taken. A photo request is generated after a pre-determined distance has been traveled and is transmitted to the digital camera. The camera takes a photo based on the request and the photos, photo requests, first and second positions and distance measurements are stored for post-processing. The post-processing determines a path traveled by the vehicle using the positions and distance measurements and assigns an accurate geographic location and orientation to each photo. The method is useful in building a database of geographically related images.

  • Patent number: 9712817
Abstract: In some embodiments, a lossless 2D video decoder includes multiple parallel speculative decoding engines, each performing a sample-determination calculation according to one of several possible context values for the current pixel to be decoded. The actual context depends on a quantized value of a local inter-pixel gradient, which may become available only when an immediately-neighboring pixel has been decoded. A multiplexer selects one of the decoding engine outputs when the immediately-neighboring pixel has been decoded and the actual context becomes available. A sample (e.g. luma and/or chroma) value for the current pixel may be determined according to: a baseline prediction generated by applying a median filter to immediately-neighboring pixels; a context-dependent adjustment dependent on local context statistics; and a delta (difference) value read from a video bitstream.

  • Patent number: 9693069
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide an image coding technique for suppressing degradation in image quality, in which the time and space where intra macroblocks appear are dispersed. A block count determination part determines the number of intra macroblocks to be allocated in each frame. A position determination part arranges the intra macroblocks at random positions in each frame. A coding part performs coding on the basis of the number of intra macroblocks to be allocated in a time direction, which is determined by the block count determination part, and the arrangement of the intra macroblocks in a spatial direction, which is determined by the position determination part, to thereby output compressed image data.
