  • Patent number: 6882344
Abstract: A method for examining font files for corruption involves an font manager communicating with a remote font server which stores uncorrupted font files. A portion of the font file to be checked for corruption may be compared with the uncorrupted font file to determine whether the file is corrupted. If the file is corrupted, an uncorrupted font file may be downloaded to the font manager to replace a portion of the corrupted font file containing the actual font file as opposed to a portion of the font file which may include other information such as kerning information.

  • Patent number: 6847375
Abstract: A value for expressing the fraction of the area occupied by a polygon within a pixel and a value for expressing the degree of transparency of the pixel are multiplied together for each pixel. The multiplied product is reset as the degree of transparency for each pixel, according to which a color preset for each pixel composing the polygon is mixed with the colors of other pixels rendered on a two-dimensional coordinate which is substantially the same as that for the pixels composing the polygon. This allows semi-transparent polygons to be processed by anti-aliasing without being changed into opaque polygons.

  • Patent number: 6809741
Abstract: A color contrast adjuster is disclosed that automatically selects and applies a new color combination for text and background based on the current color combination for the text and background, if the current color combination is a problem color combination. The text can be any text object (such as a hypertext link, bold text, underline text, groups of text etc.) and the background can be any background object whose color can be determined (such as a solid color, a button, a global interchange format file, etc.). Additionally, the color contrast adjuster can store multiple problem and preferred color combinations for each user. The color contrast adjuster can replace a problem color combination with a preferred color combination. Furthermore, the color contrast adjuster can provide example color combinations to a user, allow the user to select a better color combination, and add this preferred and problem combination to a user preferences.

  • Patent number: 6384827
Abstract: A method of generating a display to enable the user to be able to easily navigate a complex menu structure on a small display screen. The method of generating a display comprises the steps of receiving data representing lines of characters to be displayed, applying one font to one line of the lines, applying another font, smaller than the one font, to the remaining lines of the lines, truncating an upper part of a top line of the lines, truncating a lower part of a bottom line of the lines, and displaying the lines on the screen. This method can be used for generating a character display for navigation of a menu structure on the screen of a mobile telephone.

  • Patent number: 6057834
Abstract: Using a graphical user interface (GUI), users manipulate, organize, classify, and/or arrange web-page icons by having the icons be consolidated in schedule-control icons (SCI) containing regions. Regions may be on icons, windows, or other graphical objects. For example, when an icon representing a web page is dragged close to a region on an SCI, the subscription update schedule for that web page is changed. The schedule value depends upon to which region on the SCI an icon is dragged.
