  • Patent number: 8701490
Abstract: A Z-axis capacitive accelerometer includes a substrate, a capacitance sensing plate, a proof mass and at least one pair of spring beams. The capacitance sensing plate includes two symmetrical sense areas to create differential capacitive measurement. A decoupling structure separates the proof mass and the capacitance sensing plate and their rotational motions from each other. In the proposed Z axis capacitive accelerometer, the distance of the capacitance sensing plate relative to its rotation axis is considerably increased, thereby effectively enhancing the sensitivity when measuring the Z-axis acceleration.

  • Patent number: 8678137
Abstract: A lubrication monitoring system for monitoring the lubricative state of two relatively movable elements of a linear transmission device includes a contact resistance capturing device and a processing unit. The contact resistance capturing device for detecting the contact resistance between the two elements and converting it into a corresponding value. A maximum delay time and a threshold value are preset in the processing unit. A period of time during which the linear transmission device starts to run and then the corresponding value reaches the threshold value defines a delay time. If the specific value of the delay time to the maximum delay time is larger than or equal to a predetermined specific one, it will be judged that the lubrication needs resupply. Therefore, monitoring the lubricative state as the linear transmission device is accelerated can get correct lubricative state to enable correct lubrication resupply.

  • Patent number: 8621930
Abstract: A generator structure has alternating linear regions which are respectively relatively absorbing and relatively non-absorbing. When the structure is illuminated, the spatial contrast in the absorption created by the characteristics of the regions gives rise to mechanical effects within the workpiece, such as localized heating. • Patent number: 8601858
Abstract: A method for testing a mechanical integrity of an insulating layer covering a conductor in a cable, a longitudinal void being defined inside the insulating layer in a region of the conductor. A first end of the insulating layer is blocked. A compressed gas is injected at a second end of the insulating layer so that the gas enters and travels the longitudinal void inside the insulating layer towards the first end. A gas pressure inside the insulating layer is measured at least near the second end. Injection of the compressed gas is stropped after a predetermined injection time period. A variation of the gas pressure inside the insulating layer is monitored during a diagnostic time window succeeding to a transitional time period following the stopping of the injection. Integrity of the insulating layer is determined based on the variation of the gas pressure during the diagnostic time window.

  • Patent number: 8601873
Abstract: In an angular velocity sensor, a vibrator is coupled with a substrate through a beam part, and is movable in a first direction and a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction. A driving part is configured to vibrate the vibrator in the first direction. • Patent number: 8578778
Abstract: Embodiments of techniques and technologies to verify the interference fit of fasteners are disclosed. In one embodiment, a transducer is positioned to transmit a shear ultrasonic signal through a region of a fastener which is subject to stress when the fastener experiences an interference fit. The shear ultrasonic signal is transmitted through a region of the fastener subject to the stress. As the transmitted ultrasonic signal encounters the region, it is mode converted corresponding to a degree of interference which the fastener is experiencing. A return ultrasonic signal from the fastener is received with the transducer. From the return ultrasonic signal, a processor determines the degree of interference fit which the fastener is experience and outputs an indication of the same.
