Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of manufacturing a custom stoma insert for a patient having a stoma, as well as to a stoma made using the method of the disclosure. The method comprises the steps of scanning the stoma and surrounding skin area to generate a three-dimensional scan of the area for which the stoma insert is to be manufactured; manipulating scan data obtained from the three-dimensional scan to render a three-dimensional model of the stoma and surrounding skin contours, such that the scan data is suitable for use in an additive manufacturing environment; creating a custom mold for the stoma insert using additive manufacturing such that the mold provides a complementary surface closely mirroring the contours of the stoma and surrounding skin area; and producing the stoma insert by casting a physiologically acceptable moldable material into the custom mold.
Abstract: A drainable pouch including an outlet closure and securement system is provided. The outlet closure and securement system include at least one tab and a cover including at least one slot. The drainable pouch is closed by folding up an outlet portion, wherein the folded up outlet portion is secured to and hidden behind the cover when the at least one tab is received in the at least one slot.
Abstract: An ostomy appliance coupling system includes a first coupling part with a gas-impermeable layer forming an enclosed volume of air, with the gas-impermeable layer sealed to one of a sealing wafer and an ostomy bag. A second coupling part is connected to an opposite one of the sealing wafer and the ostomy bag. A depression in the second coupling part is shaped to receive and couple with a protruding member of the first coupling part to removably couple the ostomy bag to the sealing wafer.
Abstract: An accessory separate from and attachable to an adhesive body side member of an ostomy appliance is disclosed. The accessory includes a proximal surface that is attachable to a distal side of the adhesive body side member and a distal surface opposite from and connected to the proximal surface. The accessory has a pocket formed between the proximal surface and the distal surface of the accessory, with an opening formed to communicate with the pocket, and manipulable material disposed in the pocket. The manipulable material is adapted to be displaced out of the pocket through the opening and is adapted to absorb stoma moisture to prevent the stoma moisture from reaching an adhesive of the adhesive body side member to effectively increase a wear time of the adhesive body side member.

Abstract: A body waste collection system for bedridden or chair-bound patients. A waste entry port may interface with a resting surface of the bed or chair by way of a funnel that terminates at the resting surface. A collection unit may be fluidly coupled to the waste entry port by a flexible conduit system. The collection unit may include a temperature gauge, a volume measure, a sample port, and an odor removal port. Once the bedridden or chair-bound patient has assumed a release position along the resting surface defined by the waste entry port, no other lifting or movement of the patient is needed to collect their body waste in the collection unit, which can utilize the integrated hardware.
Abstract: Certain embodiments relate to a soft odor barrier material in a medical device. The soft odor barrier material includes an elastomer and an antiblocking agent. In certain forms, the antiblocking agent imparts an interior rough surface having an arithmetic mean surface roughness (Ra) not less than 0.1 ?m. In certain forms, the antiblocking agent is non-blocking upon folding and packaging.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an ostomy device for contacting a stoma. The present invention also relates to the use of an ostomy device for contacting a stoma and a kit of parts for preparing an ostomy assembly or system.
Abstract: A medication and identification information transfer system is provided that includes a primary medication container, a secondary medication container, a secondary container label and a medication information transfer apparatus. The medication information transfer apparatus, when coupled to the primary medication container, can transfer information indicative of the contents of the primary medication container to a medication delivery device such as an intelligent injection site. The medication information transfer apparatus has a shape and size enabling it to be connected to an adapter for removal of medication from the primary medication container which enables transfer of the medication to a secondary container while simultaneously transferring information about the medication in the primary medication container to the injection site. In some implementations, the medication injection site can be placed on a fluid delivery line for infusion into a patient.
Abstract: Disclosed is a collecting bag configured to collect urine or stomal fluids from a stoma of a user, particularly a urostomy. Further discloses is an anti-reflux component to prevent reflux of collected fluids from a collecting volume to an inlet opening of a collecting bag. The anti-reflux component includes interior, proximal and distal contoured sheets connected to each other such as to define a passage between them towards the collecting volume. The sheets are further attached to each other to define two or more non linear connection zones.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a coupling assembly (12) for an ostomy appliance (10) comprising a clamp arrangement (60), a first coupling and a second coupling. The clamp arrangement (60) comprises a clamp ring (61) mounted to the first and/or second coupling and a clamp locked mounted to the clamp ring (61). The clamp ring (61) comprises an inner circumference (62) adjustable between clamped and unclamped configurations. Abstract: A medical appliance is configured with material that creates a fluid barrier with interior walls of a stoma on a patient. These configurations may include an annular disc with a stem on one side that inserts into the stoma. The material may reside on the stem, for example, in the form of a replaceable hollow tube that covers at least part of the stem. On the other side, a rotatable spigot inserts into a recess. The rotatable spigot has a first position that forms a flow path through the stem and the annular disc to allow waste to drain from the stoma. In one implementation, the rotatable spigot can couple with a collection device that receives the waste. The patient can return the rotatable spigot to a second position to prevent flow of waste.
