  • Patent number: 8351456
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described herein that facilitate filtering or clustering of radios and/or other transceivers associated with a communication environment. As described herein, potentially conflicting transceivers supported by a communications device can be managed in an expedited fashion by filtering the transceivers into respective groups or clusters of transceivers that exhibit potential collisions. For example, clusters can be generated such that respective transceivers are associated with a single cluster and respective transceivers associated with a given cluster do not exhibit potential collisions with transceivers not associated with the given cluster. Clustering can be performed graphically as further described herein by generating and analyzing a graph that includes nodes corresponding to respective transceivers and edges representing potential conflicts therebetween.

  • Patent number: 7532627
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention may include a method to stream packets into a queue for an upstream transmission, send multiple requests for upstream bandwidth to transmit data from the queue and receiving multiple grants to transmit data, and transmit data from the queue to the upstream as grants are received. Another embodiment may provide a network comprising a cable modem termination system (CMTS), and a cable modem wherein the cable modem may transmit data to the CMTS with a streaming protocol that sends multiple requests for upstream bandwidth to transmit data and receives multiple grants to transmit data, and transmits data to the CMTS as grants are received.

  • Patent number: 7006516
Abstract: A method and the corresponding devices are disclosed for transmitting control information on a control channel associated with a traffic channel. The traffic channel is determined to be either a full- or half rate channel or a quarter rate channel. As a response to determining the traffic channel to be a full- or half rate channel, a control information block of fixed size is transformed into a first number of control information bursts which are all transmitted. As a response to determining the traffic channel to be a quarter rate channel, a control information block of said fixed size is transformed into a second number of control information bursts, where said second number is smaller than the first number. Said second number of control information bursts are transmitted. It is checked, whether a retransmission is requested concerning said second number of transmitted control information bursts.

  • Patent number: 6977910
Abstract: A circuit is designed with a measurement circuit (432). The measurement circuit is coupled to receive a first input signal (903) from a first antenna (128) of a transmitter and coupled to receive a second input signal (913) from a second antenna (130) of the transmitter. Each of the first and second signals is transmitted at a first time. The measurement circuit produces an output signal corresponding to a magnitude of the first and second signals. A control circuit (430) is coupled to receive the output signal and a reference signal. The control circuit is arranged to produce a control signal at a second time in response to a comparison of the output signal and the reference signal.

  • Patent number: 6813273
Abstract: A method (50) for determining if it is necessary to perform a search for a specified address in an address lookup table (LUT) (58) containing a plurality of addresses (59) is disclosed. The method (50) provides at least one ordered list (56) of address existence fields. The address existence fields are associated with lookup addresses obtained from at least one portion of the plurality of addresses (59). The method (50) indexes into the at least one ordered list (56) to access at least one address existence field associated with a corresponding portion of the specified address. The method (50) further checks the at least one address existence field to determine if a search of the specified address in the address LUT (58) is necessary.

  • Patent number: 6212190
Abstract: An improved method and system for generating packets for transmission over different routes on a network is presented. In a large network such as the Internet, each route over the network carries different size packets which are not compatible unless they are fragmented into smaller segments. Initially, the technique determines a maximum transmission unit (MTU) capable of being transmitted over a predetermined route. Next, the size of each packet to be transmitted over the network is compared with the MTU size. If the comparison indicates the packet is larger than the MTU, the packet must be processed further before it can be transmitted over the route. The additional processing initially divides the total number of transmission units contained within the packet by the MTU value. The integer result of this division is temporarily stored in a DCOUNT variable and the remainder of the division in a RCOUNT variable. If the remainder in RCOUNT is non-zero, the value in DCOUNT is incremented by one.

  • Patent number: 6138168
Abstract: Provided are a system and method for supporting communication between application programs and the processing of messages by those programs. A table driven approach is used to select appropriate components of modular application programs to process received messages. The selection is carried out in dependence on associations between message types (e.g. request, inform, reply) and other characteristics of the message (e.g. whether the message is an expected reply (as identified by an identifier value). Also used in said selection are dynamic characteristics of the message or the system (e.g. possibly expiry of a timeout, or the state of an application). Rules combine these criteria and determine the conditions for invoking an application program component. Also provided is a mechanism for differentiating between reply messages which are received out of serial sequence but are still current and messages which are invalid.
