  • Patent number: 6623259
Abstract: Y-block or right-angular fluid section plunger pump housings have cylinder, suction, discharge and/or access bores which are transversely elongated within transition areas for interface with other bores to provide internal access, stress relief and a reduction in housing weight. A two-piece suction valve spring retainer assembly further reduces stress near the bore interfaces and allows use of a top stem guided suction valve that may be installed without threads in the suction bore. Tapered cartridge packing assemblies facilitate use of a one-piece plunger and also allow packing in such housings to be changed without removing the plunger.

  • Patent number: 6607361
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the metered, pulsed pumping of fluid media under high pressure, in which a pressure surge resulting from the stored, kinetic energy of an electromagnetically driven armature element of a reciprocating pump is transmitted via a blocking element to a working fluid, which is enclosed in a pressure space connected to a spraying device, resulting in a predetermined quantity of the working fluid being conveyed out of an spraying unit, the stored, kinetic energy of the armature element being abruptly transmitted first of all to an operating fluid, which is enclosed in a pressure-accumulating space arranged upstream of the pressure space, inducing a pressure surge which is transmitted in the operating fluid in an expanding manner to the blocking element and from the blocking element to the working fluid.

  • Patent number: 6604909
Abstract: A pump assembly that has a control circuit and a pressure switch which control the operation of a pump motor. The motor drives a positive displacement pump that is coupled to a fluid system. The control circuit includes a pulse width modulator circuit. The control circuit is activated when a pressure switch senses that a line pressure of the fluid system is below a threshold value. The control circuit can either operate in a continuous mode to provide a constant signal to the motor, or a pulse regulating mode to provide a series of pulses to the motor. The pulses begin with a minimum width and gradually increase until a predetermined current limit has been attained, or the motor reaches a full speed with the control circuit in a continuous on state. The speed of the motor will then correspond to the flow demanded by the fluid system. The energy provided by the pulses is varied as a function of changes in peak current drawn by the motor. The peak current is sensed and used to determine the pulse width.

  • Patent number: 6602219
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for cleaning a medical device tube, for example a catheter tube. The distal end portion of the tube has a distal opening and at least one side opening adjacent to the distal opening. The distal end of the tube is disposed in a closed chamber with the distal opening generally opposite from a first orifice defined in the chamber. A liquid is introduced into the chamber and is drawn into the distal opening in the tube, for example by a suction force. A different fluid medium, such as air, is drawn through the first orifice and into the distal opening in the tube. A turbulent flow path is established with the fluid medium wherein the medium is drawn through the first orifice, into the distal opening in the tube, out the side opening in the tube, and back into the distal opening in the tube. This turbulent flow path enhances the cleaning action of the liquid introduced into the chamber for cleaning the distal end portion of the tube within the chamber.

  • Patent number: 6599102
Abstract: Disclosed are a gas compressor and an air conditioning system in which an anomalous temperature rise in an electro-magnetic clutch is detected at an early stage to stop the operation of the gas compressor. A temperature sensor is mounted at a position in the vicinity of a portion of the electro-magnetic clutch which is subject to anomalous heat generation. • Patent number: 6595756
Abstract: An electronic control systems and process for infusion devices and pump configurations can provide highly efficient use of electrical power. The system may include a capacitor which is controlled to partially, but not fully discharge, to provide a power pulse to a pump coil. In this manner, the capacitor remains partially charged and need not be re-charged from a fully discharged state. In addition, the power applied to the coil in a given discharge pulse signal may be controlled to correspond to the power needs of the pump, by controlling the degree to which the capacitor is discharged to produce the pulse signal. A power cut-off switch may be provided to control the discharge of the capacitor such that the capacitor is stopped from discharging prior to the actual end of the armature stroke. The time at which the capacitor discharge is stopped may be selected such that energy remaining in the coil after the capacitor stops discharging is sufficient to continue the pump stroke to the actual end of the stroke.
