  • Patent number: 5020392
Abstract: A control system for a continuously variable transmission has a transmission ratio control valve having a spool for controlling oil supplied to a cylinder of a drive pulley to change the transmission ratio. The transmission ratio control valve has chamber at both ends of the spool. By controlling the flow rate of oil supplied to the chambers in accordance with a desired transmission ratio, the spool is shifted, so that the rate of change of the transmission ratio is controlled. The transmission ratio changing rate is corrected by the rate of change of the desired transmission ratio. Two coefficients representative of the degree of throttle opening and a physical condition such as viscosity are also generated to correct the transmission ratio changing rate.

  • Patent number: 4953426
Abstract: A housing support for a hydraulic displacement unit swashplate wherein the swashplate extends across the split line between a two-part housing for the hydraulic displacement unit. The housing support is provided by a support surface formed on one housing part and which has extensions thereof extending beyond the housing part. These extensions protrude into the other housing part when the two housing parts are assembled together at the abutting split line. These surface extensions are preferably in the form of a pair of fingers which are spaced from each other to straddle a bearing positioned in a bearing cavity formed in the two housing parts. This enables the fingers to be of sufficient structural section to withstand the hydraulic forces imposed on the part of the swashplate supported thereby.

  • Patent number: 4949597
Abstract: A single sequence valve is connected to a 3-4 shift valve thereby defining a drain circuit. The sequence valve is responsive to hydraulic pressures which act on a fourth speed apply chamber of a band brake and a high clutch, respectively. The sequence valve normally defines the drain circuit, but delivers hydraulic fluid to the 3-4 shift valve, then to the fourth speed apply chamber of the band brake after a command for a 4-2 downshift has taken place until the hydraulic pressure in the high clutch drops to a predetermined value.

  • Patent number: 4949596
Abstract: The transmission ratio of an automotive continuously variable transmission is controlled on the basis of the difference between a target rotational speed of the engine which is preset according to an indication of the driver's intention of acceleration or deceleration and a detected rotational speed of the engine. The gain of the rate of change of the transmission ratio is reduced as the detected rotational speed of the engine becomes higher, and the gain of the rate of change of the transmission ratio is increased as the detected rotational speed of the engine becomes lower. Alternatively, the gain of the rate of change of the transmission ratio is of a relatively small value when the detected rotational speed of the engine is equal to or higher than a preset speed, and the gain of the rate of change of the transmission ratio is of a relatively large value when the detected rotational speed of the engine is lower than said preset speed.

  • Patent number: 4945782
Abstract: The present invention is utilized for demountable securing a power take-off ring gear to the clutch drum on the clutch housing of a vehicular transmission. Specifically, a mounting sleeve releasably secures the power take-off ring to the clutch drum. The mounting sleeve has a generally annular body portion configured as an alternating series of circumferentially spaced, radially outer, crown plate portions and circumferentially spaced, root plate portions displaced radially inwardly with respect to the crown plate portions. The crown plate portions and the root plate portions are connected to each other by a series of substantially radially oriented web walls to present a circumferentially extending, corrugated configuration to the mounting sleeve, and the corrugated configuration operatively effects the driving engagement between the sleeve and the clutch drum. A series of first locking dogs extend radially inwardly from at least selected crown plate portions.

  • Patent number: 4942782
Abstract: A reverse shift control device of an automatic transmission prevents reverse running of the automatic transmission, even though a manual shift lever is set to a reverse range, when the vehicle runs at more than a predetermined speed. Certain shift valves have ports to which line pressure is applied from the manual valve when set to reverse, and also have ports which communicate with a hydraulic servo of a frictional engaging component which is engaged when the vehicle travels in reverse. When the manual valve is set to reverse and the vehicle speed is more than a predetermined speed (for example, 7 km/h), respective pairs of the ports are disconnected due to the shifting of the shift valves based on the signal issued by a controller.

  • Patent number: 4922781
Abstract: This invention involves a gear transmission mechanism and its device which incorporate double cycloidal equidistant conjugated gear mechanisms and devices, featuring in that a whole branch cyclic cycloidal equidistant curve at a side of the center of curvature of that cycloid is applied with the value of equidistance equal to or smaller than the radius of the rolling circle as the original tooth profile and thus conjugated mutually enveloping cycloidal equidistant curved gear mechanisms with one-tooth-difference, zero-tooth-difference or multi-tooth-difference can be made according to the requirement. Motor pumps and reducers made according to these mechanisms have the advantages of smaller sliding coefficient, smaller pressure angle, greater speed ratio range, lower noise, better strength, higher efficiency, more convenience in machining and lower cost. Therefore these mechanisms can be used to effectively replace the cycloidal lantern gearing with promising development of novel gear transmissions.
