  • Patent number: 8285860
Abstract: Techniques for discovering and/or advertising services are described herein. A first bitmask is received from a remote device over a wireless network, the first bitmask having one or more bits that have a predetermined logical value. Each bit represents a particular service provided by the remote device. A logical operation is performed between the first bitmask and a second bitmask locally generated within a local device, where the second bitmask represents a service being searched by the local device. It is determined whether the remote device is potentially capable of providing the service being searched by the local device based on a result of the logical operation.

  • Patent number: 8274555
Abstract: A stereoscopic image supplier acquires stereoscopic image data in a side-by-side layout format. Visual information supplier acquires visual information to be added to a stereoscopic image. Based on a 3D display for displaying a stereoscopic image, a 3D display information supplier acquires the coordinates of portions that are not used for 3D display representation as the coordinates of the pixels with which visual information is combined. An image synthesizer combines visual information obtained at Step S2 with the pixel at the coordinates set at Step S3. Visual information is combined with all the portions at the coordinates to be processed, and the image with visual information synthesized is stored in a stereo image storage. In this way, if additional information is added to the stereoscopic image, no uncomfortable feeling will occur when the image is viewed in stereoscopic vision.

  • Patent number: 8200825
Abstract: The present invention comprises a system for the control of multiple remote resources. A plurality of user stations, each comprising a keyboard, video screen and a mouse, communicate with a server management unit. The server management unit is comprised of a server chassis, matrix switch and a switch server. Remote resources are each connected to a port of a multiplexer or to a server interface. A user station connects to a remote resource by making a request to the server management unit. The switch server identifies the multiplexer or server interface port to which the resource is connected from a database. A request is made to a remote interface server connected to the multiplexer and server interfaces and the remote interface server connects the appropriate ports of the server management unit and the multiplexer or server interface.

  • Patent number: 8190750
Abstract: In a method for dynamically setting a content rate of a multimedia session for a client in a network, a proxy server receives a channel condition feedback message from a network controller and determines whether a receiver report message has been received from the client since a most recent previous channel condition feedback message. The channel condition feedback message includes current channel condition information for the network. The proxy server sends one of an extended feedback report message and a short feedback report message to a media server based on the determining step. The short feedback report message includes at least a maximum transmission rate parameter for the multimedia session. The extended feedback report message includes at least information contained in the receiver report message. The extended feedback report message may, in addition, include the maximum transmission rate parameter for the multimedia session.

  • Patent number: 8184159
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for controlling a plurality of vehicle systems. A forward looking sensor (12) is configured to obtain a two-dimensional image of a space in front of the vehicle. A region identification element (14) divides the two-dimensional image into a plurality of regions. Each region represents a portion of the space forward of the vehicle. An image transform (16) transforms the two-dimensional image to a three-dimensional coordinate system representing the space in front of the vehicle to calculate depth information for at least a portion of the image. Each of a plurality of expert systems (18-20) have at least one associated region and control a vehicle system (22-24) according to data from their respective at least one associated region and the calculated depth information.

  • Patent number: 8161164
Abstract: Services of a multi-tier application can authorize (e.g., including authenticating) each other with one or more service access tokens provided by a security token service. In one implementation, an end-user can authenticate with the security token service to obtain one or more security tokens for communicating with an upstream application service. Requests that involve further processing from downstream services of the application can also involve service authorization/authentication measures. Thus, the upstream application service can also authenticate with the security token service to obtain one or more security tokens, such as a session token, and a service access token. The service access token for the upstream service can also include one or more signed policy settings. The upstream service can then use the one or more security tokens to prove authority to communicate with a downstream service in accordance with the policy settings.

  • Patent number: 8112532
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are used to provide a system and method for tearing down and reclaiming an IP address from a multi-IP stack device based on configurable timer parameters that provide a network operator with independent control over each protocol-specific IP network layer session. Dedicated idle and session timers for each IP network layer session are implemented at the network layer of various network nodes in order to independently tear down IPv4 and IPv6 network sessions while maintaining the underlying link layer connection. In embodiments, the IP protocol-specific idle and session timers are processed by the Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN) or the Home Agent (HA).

  • Patent number: 8086742
Abstract: A broadcasting receiver and method of interfacing resource information between a host device and a POD, sending host device resource information and obtaining host device resource information are disclosed. A POD sends a resource information requesting message. And a host device receives the resource information requesting message and responds with a resource information message including a resource identifier defined in a resource information table which includes information indicating whether the host device supports A-mode. Using a “conditional access” feature provided by a conventional cable security card, content received through any type of transport protocol (including an IP protocol) including a wired/wireless network can be protected and A-mode resource information can be systematically defined together with other-mode IP communication resource and the resource information of different modes can be integrated and transmitted to the host device.

  • Patent number: 8082314
Abstract: A portal for transferring information between a master serer and a third-party client using a transportable replicating server is provided. The portal may be particularly useful for and may provide a significant cost advantage and benefit when access to front and back-office servers is limited or not accessible. The master server may replicate information (e.g., applications and data) from the front and back-office servers to the replicating server. After replication, the replicating server appears to the third-party clients as the front and back-office servers, containing the functionality and data to facilitate front and back-office operations. Being transportable, the replicating server can move from a first location at which the replicating server can communicate with the master server to a second location at which the replicating server can communicate with the third-party clients. At the second location, the information on the replicating server may be communicated to the third party devices.

  • Patent number: 8069218
Abstract: A system, computer program product and method for a running process migration with planned minimized down-time. The method facilitates fast and efficient process migration by performing background data synchronization prior to actual process migration. The service slowdown is reduced by employing two-stage transfer method. During a first stage the service, being executed on the original machine, does not stop and all the available data required by this process is being copied. After the first stage is completed the service continues to be executed without an interruption, while the most of the data associated with the service process is already transferred to the new machine. During the second stage the execution of the service on the first machine is stopped. The files, which were not available during the first stage, are now copied. Then the execution of service is started on the second machine. The down-time is reduced to the duration of the second stage.

  • Patent number: 8065408
Abstract: Maintaining a current network address between a network device and a network management system (NMS) that enables central configuration control over a number of network devices. Network devices with dynamically changeable network addresses provide address updates to a listener system, which maintains a database of current IP addresses relative to device names. The network devices communicate with the listener system via a listener network address and a first predefined port. The NMS submits a device name to the listener system in a request for a current network address via a second predefined port. The listener system optionally checks a local hosts file and/or DNS server before resolving a current network address from the device name associated with a unique MAC address. The listener system provides the NMS with the current network address when requested by the NMS or immediately if the NMS registers for immediate notification of an address change.

  • Patent number: 8032618
Abstract: A determination is made as to whether an updated image for an outdated virtualized application is available on a server. If it is determined that the updated image is available, then a background download operation configured to retrieve the updated image from the server is initiated. Another determination is made as to whether the outdated virtualized application is being utilized. After the background download operation is complete, if it is determined that the outdated virtualized application is not being utilized, then the outdated virtualized application is transformed to a current virtualized application by replacing at least a portion of the outdated virtualized application with the updated image. The outdated virtualized application and the current virtualized application are configured to be executed on the computer without installation on a computer.
