  • Patent number: 5014372
Abstract: A hydrotherapy jet assembly that produces rotating and pulsating streams of water and provides for user adjustable flow control, and user adjustable control of the speed of rotation independently of the flow control. The assembly includes a nozzle rotor supported for rotation in a generally cylindrical body, and a rotor retainer cage having a thrust plate that applies an axial retaining force to the rotor. The rotor has two internal passages that discharge water in directions that may be selected to produce a turning moment applied to the rotor. Fins may be incorporated into the rotor to produce or contribute to rotation. In all of the disclosed forms of the rotor, radial thrust components resulting from discharge of water through the two rotor passages cancel each other. The rotor is thereby balanced in directions transverse to its axis or rotation. Axial thrust components resulting from the discharge of water from the nozzle rotor are substantially balanced by the force of water entering the rotor.

  • Patent number: 5008964
Abstract: A potty chair for toilet training children and of the type having an automatic speech and tune producing capability. The tune generating circuit (36) plays a tune when a child first sits on the potty chair seat (24). A moisture sensing circuit (32) detects the introduction of bodily waste into the waste receptor (20): which it communicates to the speech generating circuit (38), causing it to play a voice message. In addition, a changeable data storage circuit (40) determines the tune and voice messages that are produced. Other features of the invention include control of the tune and speech volume and power conditioning for the electronic circuits.

  • Patent number: 5005229
Abstract: A rope anchor device for a swimming pool having a vinyl liner wherein a flat base plate has at least two integral stems projecting rearwardly from the plate and extending through the swimming pool wall. A nut is threaded on each stem at the back or outside of the swimming pool wall to mount the plate securely against the inside of the swimming pool wall. A rope anchor eyelet plate is in turn mounted on the base plate, with the linear clamped therebetween, by at least two threaded fasteners which engage the anchor plate and are threadably engaged in bores extending coaxially through the stems. The base plate can be made of cast and machined metal or injection molded plastic. Where the base plate is made of metal, the bores are internally threaded. Where the base plate is made of injection molded plastic, self-tapping screws can be used and hence the bores need not be internally threaded.

  • Patent number: 5003646
Abstract: A hydrotherapy apparatus incorporating a water wheel coupled to a reduction gear assembly for providing a strong jet of water at an extremely uniform rate of rotation, even at slow rotational speeds. The water wheel has a relatively small diameter so that it may be driven at a high rate of speed to minimize any rotational speed variations of the water wheel itself. The water wheel is non-rigidly coupled to the drive shaft of the nozzle by a helical gear which causes the drive shaft to rotate at a slower rate than that of the water wheel.

  • Patent number: 5001787
Abstract: A combination bathtub/shower facility comprised of separately prefabricated shower and bathtub units which are structurally interconnected in such a manner as to maintain the structural, watertight, and aesthetic integrity of the facility. The bathtub and shower units are prefrably of unitary molded construction, e.g. of molded fiberglass construction. The shower unit includes a base portion, and preferably further includes vertically upwardly extending shower walls which are integrally formed with the shower base portion. Alternatively, separately prefabricated shower wall panels may be secureably mounted to the shower base portion. In a presently preferred embodiment, the interconnection of the bathtub and shower units is accomplished by connection facilities which are integral with or easily affixable to the side of the shower base portion which is disposed adjacent to a side wall of the bathtub unit.

  • Patent number: 4995121
Abstract: A compact bidet assembly having external adjustment is mounted to the rear undersurface of a seat of a conventional toilet. A body having a fixed element connected to a source of water by means of flexible tubing hidden under the seat has an adjacent rotatable element and internal passageway leading to a nozzle. The nozzle rotates in response to a hidden control rod having a handle extended just beyond the seat edge and aligned to indicate the directional position of the nozzle, the nozzle being rotatable in a vertical arc to about 15 degrees above horizontal (seat down) to at least 30 degrees below horizontal. A control valve assembly provides water preadjusted for temperature and pressure to the bidet assembly by off-on control with the initial surge of warmup water being diverted to the bowl under the seat. An alternate control valve assembly is provided to replace the sink faucet assembly one mode supplying water through a diverter valve to the bidet and another mode diverting water to the sink faucet.

  • Patent number: 4980933
Abstract: A washing device for parts of human body comprises a thermostatic mixing valve which is disposed at a junction of a cold water supply passage and a heated water supply passage, a latching solenoid valve which is mounted on a heated water drainage passage branched out from said heated water supply passage and a latching solenoid valve which is mounted on a mixed hot water supply passage. Due to such construction, electric power for heating water is no longer necessary in the toilet bowl and electric power for mixing heated water and cold water to produce mixed hot water to be ejected from an ejecting nozzle also becomes unnecessary. Furthermore, electric power for operating the solenoid valve is minimized by means of a latching solenoid. Accordingly, the overall consumption of electric power necessary for operating and controlling the washing device can be minimized thus enabling the use of a small dry cell or battery as an electric power source of the washing device.
