Abstract: The carton is made from a one-piece blank which is erectable to an expanded condition from a flattened condition. The assembled carton is folded to the flattened condition at the point of manufacture for shipping to the point of filling. At the point of filling the flattened carton is expanded and the contents are placed in it. The carton has free end inwardly extending side wall panels which engage the end wall panels of the carton to hold the carton in the expanded condition.
Abstract: A carton for encasing and displaying merchandise, said carton utilizing a hanging tab at the upper end of the carton extending from the rear wall of the carton. The hanging tab comprises a pair of panels extending in series from the rear wall of the carton and said pair of panels being folded back into surface-to-surface engagement with each other, and then folded back as a composite panel against the rear wall. One of the panels is provided with an opening hanging hole, and the other is provided with a closed hanging hole having a plug bounded by rupturable score lines. The rear wall is embossed at an area which registers with that portion of the hanging tab which is to have a through hanging opening. The panel having the plug is provided with a strip of adhesive traversing the plug and extending beyond the score lines onto the remainder of the panel.
Abstract: A multi-compartment collapsible container made from a single integral blank is folded up and appropriately spotted with adhesive so that compartment forming panels extending from sections of the end walls and bottom walls lie in surface-to-surface relation initially with the end walls and side walls. The container thus manufactured may be shipped flat and erected at the place of the user by pushing on opposite ends of the folded carton in order to erect the carton with a longitudinal central partition and additional partitions extending from the longitudinal central partitions towards the side walls to create alternatively an erectible carton having eight cells in two rows of four with the cells being of substantially equal size or a carton having a pair of cells at each end, totalling four end cells with two larger cells intermediate the end cells which larger cells may themselves be convertible into smaller cells of equal size with the end cells totalling eight in all.
Abstract: A liquid-carrying container, made from plasticized and/or waxed cardboard, the container being preferably blanked from a single sheet, and including a carrying handle across its top, and also a recess in the top, for placement of a finger under the handle.
Abstract: A composite container for fluent materials in the liquid or semi-frozen state is disclosed, together with a method for making the same. The container includes a vertically arranged body member that is flared at its upper end, and an end closure member is provided including a circular central panel portion arranged within and extending across the upper end of the body member, annular chuck wall portion extending upwardly from the central panel portion adjacent the flared portion of the body member, and an annular connecting flange portion extending radially outwardly from the upper end of the chuck wall portion. The invention is characterized in that the connecting flange and chuck wall portions cooperate with the flared portion of the body member to define an annular space in which is arranged a resilient annular mass of sealing material.
Abstract: A partition structure formed from a one place blank of foldable sheet material for providing three cells within an outer wrapper or shipping container.
Abstract: A mailing device is in the form of a single sheet of paper which can be folded over on itself to form its own envelope. The device is a single sheet, which may be formed with portions of different paper qualities, and is to be folded in half and then in half again to put it in a form ready for mailing. In its once folded state, the device can be printed with the necessary message using a mechanized printer, and the address of the recipient can be printed on the same surface of the device as the message, and the address will appear on the correct face of the device when it is folded again.
Abstract: A composite can construction wherein the body wall, adjacent either one or both cap receiving ends thereof, is inwardly compressed to reduce the outside diameter of the tubular body while maintaining the inside diameter. The compression, reducing the thickness of the body wall, also densifies the material thereof without affecting the interior of the container or the structural integrity thereof. The compressed area extends along the length of the container body a distance sufficient to project substantially beyond the bead formed as a metal end cap is seamed to the body, thus providing a recess for facilitating accommodating of the driving wheel of a conventional can opener. The formed bead, utilizing the pre-compressed body portion and the denser material thereof, is relatively narrower and stiffer than the bead conventionally obtained upon the sealing of a metal end cap to a composite tubular body.
Abstract: A tampon pack is provided for containing a tampon of the type having a coated insertion end and an uncoated rear end. In accordance with the invention, a constriction is provided in that portion of the pack adapted to contain the rear end of the tampon and by virtue of this constriction, the insertion end of the tampon is held out of substantial contact with the container walls.
Abstract: A bottle top of generally cup type configuration is removably affixed to a medicine bottle at the open top thereof for selectively opening and closing such top. A plastic spoon has an elongated stem integrally formed with the bottle top and extends therefrom. Thus, a consumer of medicine from the bottle having a contagious illness prevents the spread of his illness by utilizing the spoon to convey medicine from the bottle to his mouth.
Abstract: A pair of double wall container tubes for fungible products such as peanuts are provided with double thickness joining flaps which with the double thickness walls provide a pair of manufacturer's joints, each of four-ply thickness to give good stacking strength to the loaded container tubes.
Abstract: There is disclosed a carton for handling the preparation of a bakery product, Such as a sheet cake, which is characterized by a modified Simplex type tray formed with a cut and scored blank of paperboard, which may be furnished the user in flattened form for ready erection into a shallow depth tray structure suitable for preparation therein of a sheet cake including baking in a conventional oven, icing and/or decorating without removal from the tray, cutting for serving, with consistent portion control, obtainable by following guide means on the tray walls, and releasing and dropping the side and end walls to enable access to portions adjacent the walls for easy serving, the walls being refoldable to upstanding position for receiving a telescoping lid when all the product has not been removed for serving.
Abstract: An elongated tube that is open at one end and tapers to a closed end has an elongated stiffener or spine fastened inside the tube. The stiffener is sufficiently wide to maintain the normally flat tube in an open position and to provide anchor means for straps used to provide attachments of the scabbard to other equipment. A short, flexible sleeve is attached to the open end of the elongated tube, and a drawstring is threaded into the outer end of the flexible sleeve for closing it.
Abstract: A box with a hinged lid is formed from a single sheet of cut and scored paperboard, the box being in the form of a tray having front, back and end walls and a lid which are reinforced by multiple plies of material so as to increase their rigidity, with a substantial thickness at the top edge of the front wall on which the lid is adapted to rest when closed, and with certain of the walls being reinforced by inserts, and the hinge structure joining the back wall and the multi-ply lid being such that the lid tends to close but may be readily held in an open position so as to permit access to the body of the box which is filled with a product such as cigars or similar products.
Abstract: A tray providing better bottom strength and better stacking strength. The tray has a double-ply base panel which will not bulge to the extent a single-ply tray would. Double-ply lower end panels are attached to the double-ply base panel. These lower end panels in conjunction with the upper end panels, the side end flaps and the interior locking panels provide quintuple-ply end sections which provide better strength.
Abstract: A container comprising a generally circular or frustoconical tubular paperboard sidewall having a closed bottom wherein the upper end of said sidewall has been folded outwardly and downwardly then upwardly back upon itself so as to form a rim of three thicknesses of said sidewall paperboard surrounding the upper end of the container.
Abstract: The present invention concerns a container such as that used to enclose beer bottles which container is made of cardboard in the usual manner. The carton may be sealed manually by the provision of carton side panels with tabs which are adapted to enter associated slots in underlying end panels and thereby secure said side panels to said end panels thus sealing the carton. The carton may also be sealed using an adhesive and presently used high-speed equipment and consequently the user need only maintain an inventory of one type of carton to cover both applications.
