    Abstract: Provided is a planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) which has a Co-Planar Waveguide (CPW) feeding structure and can be attached to a metal surface, and an RFID tag using the same. The PIFA includes a radiation patch layer; a Co-Planar Waveguide (CPW) feeding layer; a feeding probe; and a short-circuit. The CPW feeding layer includes a feeding means and a ground surface. The feeding probe electrically connects the radiation patch layer and the feeding means and provides a Radio Frequency (RF) signal to be radiated to the radiation patch layer. The short-circuiting means short-circuits the radiation patch layer and the ground surface through the dielectric layer. The PIFA can be applied to a passive RFID tag. Impedance matching between the antenna and the RFID chip is possible. Also, the PIFA can easily control resonant frequency of the antenna and reactance.

    Abstract: A buoyant cable antenna element is taught that employs a specific double-negative meta-material sheath with a negative permeability. The double-negative meta-material sheath is disposed over the insulated wire portion of the buoyant cable antenna element. The double-negative meta-material sheath enables a deliberate reduction in the antenna wire inductance to a zero value at a desired critical frequency. Reducing the antenna wire inductance to zero creates a traveling wave structure antenna having enhanced bandwidth.

    Abstract: An antenna comprises electrical conductors arranged to form a radiating element including a folded line configuration and a distributed strip configuration, where the radiating element can be in proximity to a ground conductor and/or arranged as a dipole. Embodiments of the antenna include conductor patterns formed on a printed wiring board, having a ground plane, spacedly adjacent to and coplanar with the radiating element. An antenna can comprise a distributed strip patterned on a printed wiring board, integrated with electronic components mounted on top of or below the distributed strip, and substantially within the extents of the distributed strip. Mounting of electronic components on top of or below the distributed strip has little effect on the performance of the antenna, and allows for realizing the combination of the antenna and integrated components in a compact form.

    Abstract: A lighted antenna is provided. The lighted antenna is composed of an antenna pole, a base block, a cylindrical body, a control circuit, and a battery. The base block has a hole in the center for fixing the antenna in upright position, and a plurality of clipping holes surrounding center hole. The cylindrical body has a plurality of cylinder clips formed along the circular rim on one end, corresponding to the positions of the clipping holes. A plurality of light-emitting diodes are installed inside the base block and positioned directly below respective clipping holes. The cylindrical body is attached onto the base block by press fitting the cylinder clips into respective clipping holes. Whenever the antenna is activated, light is projected onto the antenna surface with inclined angle, passing through unblocked portion of clipping holes, to produce flashing light.

    Abstract: Methods, apparatuses and systems directed to a wireless network interface supporting directional antenna diversity. Directional diversity, in one embodiment, makes use of antennas with higher gain and non-overlapping patterns to provide communication over a greater area and select the best antenna to receive signals transmitting wireless frames or packets. Certain embodiments optimize wireless network systems using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) signals where spatial diversity protection provided by spatially-separated, omni-directional antennas is not required. In other embodiments, use and selection of directional antennas allows for sectorization resulting in performance gains such as extended coverage areas, noise reduction, enhanced efficiency, and increased throughput.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for editing the custom colors from a Quick Color Selector on a personal computer desktop. An Edit Custom Colors button is provided on the Quick Color Selector. Activating this button causes a Color Editor to appear, either as a separate window or as an expansion of the Quick Color Selector. This invention also provides for a user to specify which custom color chip is to be edited (the target chip). In particular, navigation controls are provided that enable the user to move an identifying cursor across an array of custom color chips. The navigation controls may appear in the Quick Color Selector or in a Color Editor. The Quick Color Selector still exhibits its expected transient behavior in that it, together with any separate Color Editor window, disappears immediately after the user selects a color chip.

    Abstract: A system for displaying sets of surface cubes with gradient vertex vectors first employs a pointer table constructed to order the surface cubes so as to generally cause a row by row and layer by layer ordering during model creation. During display, a viewpoint is selected and a scan controller causes cubes to be displayed according to this order of the pointer table. A test backprojection of cubes to image plane is performed to determine which pixels will be impinged by the cubes. For pixels which have not been updated, or pixels which have been updated by a less superficial cube than the current cube, projection rays are created through the center of impinged pixels in a direction opposite that of the backprojection. An intersection point of the ray with a surface within a current cube is determined. The data value and gradient vectors for the current cube are interpolated at this intersection point.
