Abstract: Apparatuses for interfacing with an electrode provided with a melting furnace including a vessel and an electrode. In some embodiments, a support assembly (50) supports the electrode outside of the vessel, and includes a cart (102) or similar apparatus that permits or facilitates selective vertical movement of the electrode and selective transverse movement of the electrode. In some embodiments, a push assembly (52) interfaces with a rear face of the electrode outside of the vessel, and is operable to apply a pushing force onto the rear face. The push assembly can include one or more tracks (e.g., threaded screw) that supports a body between opposing arms of a fixed frame. The body can translate along the tracks to apply a pushing force onto the electrode.

  • Patent number: 11471612
Abstract: Induction heating from an induction coil (108) is used to separate a metal medical sharp (144) from its holder (142) by applying a high-frequency oscillating magnetic field that excites eddy currents and resistance heating in the sharp. The heated metal sharp melts the adhesive or plastic securing the sharp to its holder. The use of induction heating is advantageous in that it does not require direct contact between the electrical circuit and the sharp or its holder. The heating can also act to sterilize the sharp and thereby render it less hazardous at the same time that it separates the sharp from its holder. The induction coil can have a stepped or conical shape to concentrate the RF energy at the interface between the metal sharp and its holder.

  • Patent number: 11473171
Abstract: The invention discloses a method about the integration of the metallurgical purification of metallic gadolinium and the preparation of gadolinium oxide nanoparticles (GONPs) by arc plasma. The method includes the metallurgical purification and the nanoparticle preparation. Firstly, the gadolinium ingot and a tungsten rod respectively act as an anode and a cathode. After the arc furnace is evacuated and then is filled with a working atmosphere, impurities in the gadolinium ingot are removed in the form of volatilization to obtain purified gadolinium by the first arc discharge. Whereafter, the purified gadolinium and the tungsten rod are used as the anode and cathode. After the arc furnace also is evacuated and then also is filled with a working atmosphere, GONPs are obtained from the inner wall of the arc furnace though the second arc discharge. The metallurgical purification of metallic gadolinium and the preparation of GONPs were integrated by arc plasma.

  • Patent number: 11452404
Abstract: A pizza oven is disclosed for cooking pizza or other food items on a barbecue grill. The pizza oven includes a top wall and a sidewall that together define an interior space sized and shaped to receive the food item to be cooked. The top wall includes one or more projections extending from an inner surface of the top wall into the interior space. When the pizza oven is positioned on the grates of a heated grill, heated air from the grill enters the interior space through a gap between the side walls and the food item. The heated air then contacts the one or more projections and passes over the top surface of the food item to cook the food item by convection. The one or more projections are sized and shaped to cause the heated air to move in a rotational pattern in the interior space. The rotational pattern allows the food item to be cooked faster and more evenly.
