  • Patent number: 6957263
Abstract: A network management system program and graphical user interface for large-scale optical networks is described. The network management system includes a connection management system that allows a user to manually configure connections among network elements within the network. The user defines general connection attributes within the network and adds network elements to the route or routes. The user provisions crossconnects within each network element to establish the route connections. The connection management system includes a validation function to verify the validity of the user defined connections. A graphical user interface comprises a portion of a network management system that controls a network comprising a plurality of coupled computers.

  • Patent number: 6895442
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, system, and computer program product for fast and efficient IP (Internet Protocol) address lookup. IP address values are interpreted using a separate array for each 8-bit component of the address. This technique is therefore exploitable in a multi-processing environment. The IP address look-up time when using the present invention is nearly constant, regardless of the particular address value. Minimal, if any, locking is required. This technique can be used equally well with class-specific IP version 4 32-bit addresses and with Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR), and easily extends to use with IP version 6 128-bit addresses.

  • Patent number: 6859835
Abstract: To achieve the foregoing, and in accordance with the purpose of the present invention, a method and apparatus is disclosed which provides communication between at least two applications. The communication is achieved by accepting a connection from a second application on a first port and allocating a second port to receive the communication from the second application. Once the second port has been allocated the second port translation is recorded. The communication is sent to the first port from the second application and received on the second port. The communication is then delivered to a first application from the second port. In one embodiment the first application requests the communication from the first port and the first port is translated to determine the second port such that the communication is delivered to the first application in the step of delivering the communication to the first application.

  • Patent number: 6857016
Abstract: A computer-implemented system, method, and computer-program product for tracking and mapping a position of mobile object. A global position satellite receiver and information from at least two global position satellites is used to determine a position of a mobile object with the global position satellite receiver. The position of the mobile object is reported via the Internet to a recipient in search of the mobile object. A remote position reporting device of the monitoring system can be part of or attached to any mobile object such as a child, a skier, a car, and expensive items. The remote position reporting device includes a global positioning system (GPS) receiver, monitoring software and an Internet access module. The monitoring software (e.g., a dynamic link library) supports multiple data formats and multiple protocols to communicate the position information.

  • Patent number: 6735629
Abstract: In a probe system for monitoring and analyzing data flow and associated activities between devices connected in common to a point in a network, in the mode of operation, the probe's driver runs in a “Kernel mode” on Windows NT for analyzing in relatively low detail packets of data retrieved from the network, whereby programming is provided for operating the Kernel mode driver to monitor the rate of traffic or data packets entering an NIC card buffer, for causing the CPU to respond to an interrupt issued by the NIC everytime a data packet is received at a traffic rate below a predetermined threshold to access data packets entering the NIC card buffer, and to cause the CPU to respond to polling pulses at regular predetermined intervals to access data packets, when the traffic rate exceeds the predetermined threshold, for providing more CPU cycles to analyze the data packets.
