  • Patent number: 9684188
Abstract: A hinge and joint for a pair of eyeglasses is disclosed. A split frame has upper and lower rim end pieces that bend and extend rearwardly. A vertically-extending hollow shaft is provided on the end of a temple. A spring or springs are positioned laterally between the rim end pieces and the shaft, such that the shaft bears against the spring or springs. A U-shaped housing fits over the exterior top, bottom, and side of the joint and has a pair of aligned slots in top and bottom flanges. A pin is placed through the aligned slots in the housing and the shaft of the temple. Lateral force provided by the spring or springs biases the joint away from the aligned position, and that force, in combination with upper and lower shoulders on the pin, keep the joint and hinge together.

  • Patent number: 9675245
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for determining eye torsion, comprising a camera and an image processing unit, which is designed to carry out a method for determining eye torsion. In the method, at least two images of an eye are recorded and image data are produced from said images, and at least one characteristic feature of the eye is identified from the image data, for example a blood vessel. Direction histograms of the feature in both images are produced and compared with each other. The angle of the torsion of the eye is determined from the shift of the directions in the direction histograms.

  • Patent number: 9668649
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods perform diagnostic and/or treatment procedures on an eye using a pupilometer to determine a change in pupil size, a processor and a variable illumination source. In response to a change in pupil size as determined by the pupilometer, the processor may determine an optical light output sufficient to induce a pupillary response and mitigate the change in pupil size. The system directs the desired optical light output to the eye with the variable illumination source optionally to prevent the pupil size from exceeding certain limits so as to improve torsional tracking of markers of the eye.

  • Patent number: 9655513
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention encompass systems and methods for generating a vision treatment target for an eye of a patient. Exemplary techniques can involve obtaining a wavefront measurement for the eye of the patient, processing the wavefront measurement, using a low pass filter, to obtain an ocular wavefront, and generating the vision treatment target based on the ocular wavefront. In some cases, the wavefront is processed by applying a Fourier transform to the wavefront measurement to obtain a Fourier spectrum of the wavefront, convolving, in the Fourier domain, the Fourier spectrum of the wavefront and the low pass filter to obtain a Fourier spectrum convolution result, and applying an inverse transform to the convolution result to obtain the ocular wavefront. The ocular wavefront can represent a low pass filtered version of the wavefront measurement, such that high spatial frequency features present in the wavefront measurement are not present in the ocular wavefront.

  • Patent number: 9645409
Abstract: A pair of foldable spectacles has a two-lens front piece (30) to which two side pieces (20a, 20b) are pivotally connected by means of resilient corner hinges (25). The front piece (30) has a central hinge assembly (40) by means of which the front piece can be folded to a position where its lenses (31, 32) are held between and protected by the side pieces (20a, 20b). Each side piece (20a, 20b) has a first portion (21) which is connected to the front lens piece (30) by a resilient corner hinge (25), a second portion (22) which forms a free end portion of the side piece, and a resilient transition portion (23) between the first and second portions (21, 22). Thanks to the resilient corner hinges (25) and the resilient transition portion (23) of the two side pieces (20a, 20b), the spectacles (10) in use are held in place in a reliable manner since the side pieces (20a, 20b) are pressed against the side of the user's head.
