  • Patent number: 8538007
Abstract: In order to provide unbalanced ringing when an exchange line card provides a balanced ringing output the interface provides a ringing detector in circuit with a customer pair. On detecting balanced ringing signals from the line card, the interface takes over the customer line pair and provides unbalanced ringing signals to the customer and monitors for customer answer. By inserting the interface in circuit at the main distribution frame of an exchange, legacy customer premises equipment which is unable to respond to balanced signalling can be provided with an appropriate ringing signal without the necessity to provide differing line cards at the exchange.

  • Patent number: 8520805
Abstract: E911 call routing technology that employs pseudo Automatic Number Indicators (pANI) is enhanced to provide video E911 services. Digital photos or video from a camera-equipped phone are associated with a pseudo Automatic Number Identification (pANI), e.g., an emergency service routing key (ESRK), or an emergency service query key (ESQK) in the VoIP scenario, and a dedicated email address is associated with each pseudo Automatic Number Indicator (pANI) for the emergency caller to email the image content to. A video E911 web database containing associations between pANIs and staged image content associated with the emergency caller relating to the pANI, is maintained at an appropriate video E911 web site hosted by a mobile positioning center (MPC) or VoIP positioning center (VPC).

  • Patent number: 8503638
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a customized CLI comprise receiving, by a network element, a first SET-UP message from a transmitting device during a call set up. The network element then retrieves an identification of the transmitting device from the first SET-UP message and obtains a first Caller Line Identification (CLI) of the transmitting device corresponding to the retrieved identification. Further, the network element determines whether the first SET-UP message includes a first indicator and retrieves a data message from the first SET-UP message when the first SET-UP message includes a first indicator. The network element then adds the data message, the first CLI, and a second indicator to a second SET-UP message and transmits the second SET-UP message to a receiving device during the same call set up, for displaying a customized CLI on the receiving device, thereby alerting a user of the receiving device of an incoming call.

  • Patent number: 8488776
Abstract: The coefficient generating section receives a first signal which is the output signal of the microphone of a signal generated by subtracting the output signal of a linear echo canceller from the output signal of the microphone and a second signal which is the output signal of the linear echo canceller. The coefficient generating section detects the minimum value of the variation with time of the ratio of the amplitude of the first signal to that of the second signal and outputs the value of constant times the detected minimum value as a crosstalk coefficient indicating the degree of crosstalk of the echo. The converting section corrects the first signal according to the crosstalk coefficient and the second signal to generate a near-end signal which is the resultant signal of when the echo is removed from the first signal and outputs the near-end signal to an output terminal.

  • Patent number: 8472588
Abstract: An emergency call service system in an Internet Protocol (IP) network and a method thereof are provided. The system includes a policy control server, an emergency call agent, a call agent, and a network manager. The policy control server generates position information of a user terminal by mapping an IP address and local information to an identification (ID) of the user terminal. The emergency call agent detects a suitable emergency center for the user terminal sending an emergency call, and makes an emergency-call connection between the user terminal and the emergency center. The call agent relays the emergency call of the user terminal to the emergency call agent. The network manager stores position information of the user terminal generated through the policy control server, provides the emergency call agent with the position information of the user terminal sending the emergency call, and performs a resource reservation for the emergency-call connection.

  • Patent number: 8467520
Abstract: A method of generating a plurality of supply voltages for a plurality of subscriber line channels includes generating a first target VBAT value for a first associated linefeed driver from a first VBAT control. A second target VBAT value for a second associated linefeed driver is generated from a second VBAT control. A selected target VBAT value is generated based upon the first and second target VBAT values. A magnitude of the selected target VBAT value is not less than any maximum of a magnitude of the first and second target VBAT values. A switching regulator is controlled to provide a first generated VBAT corresponding to the selected target VBAT value, wherein the switching regulator provides a second generated VBAT having a pre-determined proportional relationship (p) to the first generated VBAT.

  • Patent number: 8447029
Abstract: This invention provides a communication apparatus, which suppresses abrupt changes of a current and voltage generated in a communication line upon connecting an external telephone to the communication line, and a control method thereof. To accomplish this, in a communication apparatus of this invention, when an off-hook state of an external telephone is detected upon connecting the external telephone to a communication line, an SOC captures a line using a first line capture means having an impedance lower than the external telephone side, and then switches an H-relay to connect the external telephone to the communication line. Furthermore, the SOC temporarily switches a line capture state to a second line capture means having an impedance higher than the first line capture means after the H-relay is switched and before the line is released.

  • Patent number: 8433061
Abstract: Far-end audio signal data generated by a far-end device during voice cross-talk between the far-end device and a near-end device is received via a network. Energy levels of frequency components of the received far-end audio signal data are determined. Near-end audio signal data produced by a microphone array is received, the near-end audio signal data including components contributed by a loudspeaker playing at least some of the far-end audio signal data. Which frequency components of the near-end audio signal data to use to compute likely near-end sound source directions is controlled dynamically, where the controlling is based on the determined energy levels of the frequency components of the received far-end audio signal data.

  • Patent number: 8396206
Abstract: Embodiments of a multi-channel audio communication device and methods for reducing echoes are generally described herein. Other embodiments may be described and claimed. In some embodiments, echo-reduction circuitry may insert training signals into digital audio signals at or below a noise floor and in a non-audible portion of the frequency spectrum based on a spectral mask. Training signals may be generated from spectrum estimates and training sequences. An adaptive filter may generate echo-cancellation signals using filter coefficients generated fawn the training sequences and return-path signals. The echo cancellation signals may remove echo signals from the return-path signals.

  • Patent number: 8379838
Abstract: A tone detector is disclosed that is realizable in digital embodiment on a single integrated circuit die and does not require external components, such as a discrete capacitor. An input connects to a comparator, which in turn connects to one or more edge detectors and a flip flop. The edge detector outputs a pulse responsive to a detected edge. A counter is reset by the pulses from the edge detectors thereby preventing the counter from reaching a maximum value, which would otherwise be output from the counter and provided to a flip flop to clock in the comparator output at the D input to the flip flop. In operation, the comparator generates a rail to rail signal responsive to a received tone, which in turn is clocked through the flip flop as a logic high output indicating presence of a tone.

Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and systems for minimizing alien crosstalk between connectors. Specifically, the methods and systems relate to isolation and compensation techniques for minimizing alien crosstalk between connectors for use with high-speed data cabling. A frame can be configured to receive a number of connectors. Shield structures may be positioned to isolate at least a subset of the connectors from one another. The connectors can be positioned to move at least a subset of the connectors away from alignment with a common plane. A signal compensator may be configured to adjust a data signal to compensate for alien crosstalk. The connectors are configured to efficiently and accurately propagate high-speed data signals by, among other functions, minimizing alien crosstalk.
