  • Patent number: 8153194
Abstract: The invention intends to provide a method for preventing deterioration in quality of the primer layer resulting from spinning-off and reattachment of a primer liquid on forming a polyurethane primer layer on a substrate for an eyeglass lens or the like using a coating composition containing a moisture-curing polyurethane resin. The method for producing a laminate according to the present invention comprises performing spin-coating while a spin-coating apparatus is forcefully evacuated through the side wall and/or the bottom thereof, on producing a laminate by spin-coating the surface of a substrate with a coating composition containing a moisture-curing polyurethane resin.

  • Patent number: 8133537
Abstract: A method for forming multi-layered fiber including a core, a first layer, and a second layer. The core has an exterior surface portion containing polypropylene. The first layer is applied to at least a portion of the core and contains a first polymer. The first polymer contains a polymer having at least 70% ?-olefin units and is characterized by a melting temperature lower than the melting temperature of the exterior surface portion of the core. The second layer is applied to at least a portion of the first layer and contains a second polymer. The second polymer contains a co-polymer having at least 50% ?-olefin units and is characterized by a number-average molecular weight of about 7,000 g/mol to 50,000 g/mol, a viscosity of between about 2,500 and 150,000 cP measured at 170° C., and a melting temperature lower than the melting temperature of the exterior surface portion of the core.

  • Patent number: 8114478
Abstract: A method for making dual-sided membrane sheet comprises the steps of: a) forming a microporous polymer sheet including a plurality of capillary channels and b) forming a semi-permeable discriminating layer upon at least a portion of the opposing outer surfaces of the sheet, wherein the sheet is advanced along a production pathway during at least a portion of: step a), step b), or while transferring the sheet from step a) to step b) by engaging the sheet along one or more of its edge sections.
