Abstract: The preparation of particular fluorescent silane dye compositions is disclosed. These silane dye compositions have particular utility as reactants in the preparation of silicone polymeric fluorescent dyes which can be ideally used as chemical indicators in biological sensors.
Abstract: A cleaning composition for electrolytically cleaning cold-rolled steelwork includes sodium or potassium hydroxide, sodium or potassium orthosilicate and a combination of non-ionic surface-active agents; said non-ionic surface active agent includes a major amount of lauryl polyethylene glycol ether with 10 moles of average ethylene oxide, and a minor amount of nonyl phenyl polyethylene glycol ether with 1 mole of average ethylene oxide. By virtue of adding two non-ionic surface active agents in such an amount ratio, an excellent defoaming and cleaning effect can be obtained. Inclusion of hexamethylenetetramine in the cleaning composition can inhibit the deposition of ferric oxide and silicone oxide during electrocleaning which normally gives rise to the problem of light fault.

Abstract: The invention provides a method and composition for substantially reducing color in transparent soap bars. Color reduction is achieved by combining in critical ratio a sulphur and a hydride type reducing agent such as sodium metabisulfite with sodium borohydride.
Abstract: Detergent powders of high bulk density, containing nonionic surfactant and sodium carbonate, are prepared by spray-drying a slurry of low moisture content (not exceeding 25% by weight) containing sodium sulphate as a sodium carbonate hydration inhibitor.
Abstract: A process is described for the continuous dyeing of textiles in which an aqueous solution of an ionic, water-soluble dye is applied to a fabric in open width. The textile is dried to reduce the water content to at most about 1% and it is then contacted with a nonionic, high-boiling organic liquid in which the ionic dye is substantially completely insoluble while the liquid is maintained at an elevated temperature, i.e., about 325.degree. F.-450.degree. F., for a period of time sufficient to cause the dye to diffuse into the fibers and to fix the ionic dye to the fibers of the textile. Any remainig high-boiling liquid is subsequently removed from the fabric.
Abstract: A preparation of dye-containing gas permeable silicon polymer and resin compositions are disclosed. Homopolymers and/or co-polymers of polysiloxane are formed in which a photoactive center substituent containing a dye is covalently bonded to the matrix structure thereby rendering the dye non-diffusible. These dye-silicone polymer compositions have particular utility in gas sensing fiber optics devices.
Abstract: Personal cleansing compositions comprising alkali metal soap and guar gum-coconut fatty acid-sodium hydroxide complex and exhibiting improved physical properties, lather properties, and mildness. The toilet bars comprise alkali metal soap and from about 0.5 to about 8% by weight guar gum, which guar gum is provided as a pre-reacted complex prepared by suspending one part by weight guar gum in from about 1 to about 12 parts by weight molten coconut fatty acid and reacting with the suspension from about 0.03 to about 0.2 part by weight sodium hydroxide per each part by weight coconut fatty acid.
