    Abstract: A connector for a coaxial cable with thin-walled outer cable conductor, includes a connector head forming an outer connector conductor for electric connection to an outer cable conductor of a coaxial cable, and an inner connector conductor. Embraced by the connector head is a support insulator for retaining the inner connector conductor centrally in and spaced from the connector head, as well as a contact sleeve for establishing a contact between the outer cable conductor and the connector head. The contact sleeve has a thin-walled, cable-proximal portion formed with a thread and intended for rotation into the coaxial cable to establish the contact between the outer cable conductor and the connector head, wherein the contact sleeve has a cable-proximal end edge formed with at least one protrusion projecting in an axial direction in the direction of the cable to establish an expanding mandrel.

    Abstract: A communication cabling system wherein elongate communication distribution assemblies (CDAs) are joined serially together by connector units at opposite ends thereof. The interconnected CDAs include access ports or openings into which a tap unit may be inserted and connected to a circuit which is accessible through the access port. Each CDA can be adapted to carry a selected number of circuits wherein each connector unit at an opposite end of a CDA includes a block-like shielded housing having a predetermined number of mounting sockets on a back end thereof. A plurality of modular cable assemblies are provided which have plugs that plug into a respective one of the mounting sockets of the shielded housing so as to assemble a CDA. This system provides for the ready construction, installation and reconfiguration of the communication cabling system.

The connecting cable is clamped by a holder (10) on the housing (8). The housing (8) includes a cut-out (9) which makes a connector (6) accessible for attachment of the cable (7). The cut-out (9) can be sealed by a cover (12), and the cover (12) securely locks the holder (10) in its position.

    Abstract: A connector having a hermaphroditic contact is disclosed. Such hermaphroditic contact extends longitudinally and is formed as a unitary body from a conductive material. The contact has a base residing in a plane and extending longitudinally and traversely in the plane, a blade arm extending longitudinally from the base and generally in the plane of the base, and a spring arm extending longitudinally from the base alongside the blade arm. The spring arm is springingly displaceable toward at least a first side of the plane of the base. To electrically couple first and second generally identical ones of the contact, the bases of the first and second contacts are aligned to be co-planar, and the blade arm of the each contact is aligned to face toward the spring arm of the other contact. The first and second contacts are then moved together such that the blade arm of each contact encounters the spring arm of the other contact.
