  • Patent number: 5031881
Abstract: A hand tool having utility in the extraction of staples, tacks and nails. A thirty degree bend is formed near the distal end of an elongate, rigid shank. The shank widens laterally outwardly distal to the bend, forming a pair of laterally extending wing members that exhibit bilateral symmetry. The shank returns to its original breadth at the distal end of the wings and four parallel claw members extend therefrom. The four claw members are separated by horizontal and vertical slots that divide the claws into a first, upper pair and a second lower pair. The lower pair of claws has a greater longitudinal extent than the upper pair and have a feather edge to facilitate sliding of said lower pair under the crown of a staple. The collective breadth of the lower pair of claws is slightly less than the breadth of a staple so that the crown of the staple is supported at its opposite ends during the extraction procedure.

  • Patent number: 5018711
Abstract: A clamp for use in aligning and installing cosmetic fronts on drawers includes first and second clamp body members which have respective connecting flanges adjustably secured by threaded fasteners. Juxtaposed threaded clamping jaws allow a cosmetic front to be clamped on a drawer face. The clamp is formed from thin sheet metal material and has an offset construction which allows the drawer to be closed with the clamp installed. The thickness of the sheet metal stock material is utilized to determine the spacing between a top edge of the cosmetic drawer front and the cabinet in which it is mounted. The adjustable connecting flanges allow the clamp to clear a "sub-top" which is present in some cabinets, thus allowing the spacing between a top edge of the cabinet top or adjacent drawer front to be precisely regulated.

  • Patent number: 5013011
Abstract: A self-deploying stabilizing support jack is presented which stabilizes and positions a recreational vehicle or trailer. The support jack comprises a bracket, a two-way cylinder, lift arms, a stabilizing sleeve and several electrical warning devices and safety features. The lift arms and cylinder are attached to the bracket at separate, offset first and second points so that when the ram of the cylinder contacts the foot of the lift arm, the entire apparatus is raised to a horizontal position. A stabilizing sleeve attached to the lift and surrounding the cylinder stabilizes the device from lateral movement. An intermediate third pivot point in the lift arm helps reduce stress upon raising. Several signalling devices warn the operator when the support jack is in the deployed position. A safety circuit automatically raises any support jack that is not in the horizontal safety position should the ignition be turned to the "on" position.

  • Patent number: 5007205
Abstract: A roller carrying yoke is mounted on the base of the belt sander for pivotal movement about a pivot screw as controlled by the adjusting mechanism which includes a carriage bolt non-rotatably mounted in a slot in the yoke. The slot allows movement of the yoke relative to the bolt. The bolt projects through a hole in the housing and threads into the knob. A spring compressed between the yoke and the housing frictionally loads the knob so it holds adjustment. The yoke moves the roller away from the fixed roller until the roller engages and is limited by a belt. Then the loading spring is stretched to tension the belt. The tension spring force is cancelled out as the lever is actuated to pull the roller back for belt removal. When the cam follower on the yoke engages the cam (operated by the lever) the spring length remains constant and the actuating force is minimal.
