Abstract: The present invention provides compositions, useful for making lyocell fibers, having a high hemicellulose content, a low lignin content and including cellulose that has a low average degree of polymerization (D.P.). Further, the present invention provides processes for making compositions, useful for making lyocell fibers, having a high hemicellulose content, a low lignin content and including cellulose that has a low average degree of polymerization. The present invention also provides lyocell fibers containing a high proportion of hemicellulose. Further, the lyocell fibers of the present invention have enhanced dye-binding properties and a reduced tendency to fibrillate.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a polyester fiber having a birefringence of 0.025 or more, comprising at least 90% by weight of a poly (trimethylene terephthalate), on which a finishing agent composed essentially of (1) an aliphatic hydrocarbon ester having a molecular weight of 300 to 800 and/or a mineral oil having a Redwood viscosity at 30° C. of 40 to 500 seconds, (2) a polyether having a structure containing an ethylene oxide unit and a propylene oxide unit, (3) a nonionic surfactant, and (4) an ionic surfactant in a specific proportion is applied.
Abstract: A new insulated wire resists heat cycles under severe operating ambient temperatures without reducing the lifetime of coils in which the insulated wire is used. The insulated wire has on the insulating coating a fluororesin coating without or with a binder constituting 20 wt. % or less. The fluororesin coating comprises fluororesin such as polytetrafluoroethylene, a tetrafluoroethylene-perfluoroalkylvinylether copolymer, or a fluoroethylene-propylene copolymer.

Abstract: The present invention provides molded fireplace articles comprising a plurality of non-white inorganic fibers that are substantially uniformly coated with a colored metal oxide. The present invention further provides a method of manufacturing molded fireplace articles comprising: providing a plurality of non-white inorganic fibers; mixing the fibers with a binder and a liquid to form a slurry; pouring the slurry into a mold having a desired shape; and forming the slurry into a shaped article. A method of preparing non-white inorganic fibers is also provided, the method comprising the steps of: providing a colorant solution formed by dispersing or dissolving a metal compound into a carrier liquid, providing an inorganic fiber, applying the colorant solution to the inorganic fiber to form a colorant coated fiber, and heating the colorant coated fiber to a temperature sufficient to decompose the metal compound to a non-white metal oxide that is substantially uniformly coated on said fibers.

Abstract: There is disclosed an insulated wire, which comprises at least one insulating layer formed by applying and baking, directly or via another insulating layer on a conductor, a resin composition containing at least one selected from the group consisting of a polyamidimide resin and a polyimide resin, each having, in the molecular structure of the resin, a structure represented by formula (I), and/or a resin composition containing at least one selected from the group consisting of a polyamidimide resin and a polyimide resin, each having, in the molecular structure of the resin, a structure represented by formula (II), and said insulated wire has 0.2% yield stress of not more than 110 Mpa. This insulated wire, even if its insulation coating is made thinner, is excellent in resistance to scratches, and it is able to prevent the coating from breakage at the time of coil working, especially of the insertion of a coil into a stator slot, under rigorous conditions.

Abstract: Disclosed is a soft, textured, multi-ply tissue paper product. The tissue paper product has at least one ply of multi-region construction with a first region that is raised above a second region. The ply of multi-region construction is orientated so that its raised region is directed toward the exterior of the tissue paper product. A chemical softening composition is surface applied to at least a portion of the raised region of the ply comprising the multi-ply tissue paper product. The chemical softener preferably includes an effective amount of a softening active ingredient; a vehicle in which the softening active ingredient is dispersed; and an electrolyte dissolved in the vehicle. The electrolyte causes the viscosity of the composition to be less than the viscosity of a dispersion of the softening active ingredient in the vehicle alone.

Abstract: A semiconducting composition for the inner semiconducting layer of an electric cable, an electric cable incorporating the composition, and a method of producing a cross-linked inner semiconducting layer of an electric cable are disclosed. Abstract: Metal cord for use in reinforcing fabric for articles made from rubber, such as pneumatic tires, conveyor belts, flexible tubes, and similar, comprising a plurality of such metal cords orientated parallel to each other in a single direction and in which each cord comprises metal wires wound spirally around each other, wherein at least one of the wires of the cord consists of a shape memory material. During the phase of incorporation of the cords into the elastomeric material, the shape memory wire tends to recover the shape memorized initially and, by means of the force generated during this recovery, transmits by friction to the surrounding wires forces tending to shorten the pitch of the cord with spacing of each wire from the next, resulting in good penetration of elastomeric material between the wires. The closure of the cord is maintained in the subsequent heat cycles, owing to the memory degradation characteristics imparted to the wire.
