Abstract: A device, for dispensing an anesthetic into a gas stream, has a gas inlet, via which gas to be enriched with anesthetic and coming from a gas source flows in and with a gas outlet, via which gas enriched with anesthetic flows out to a patient port. A heating element, for heating the gas stream, is arranged upstream of an evaporation chamber, for dispensing an anesthetic into the gas stream, between the gas inlet and the gas outlet. The heating element is actuated by a control unit such that heat is fed to the gas to be enriched with anesthetic for evaporation of the anesthetic located in the evaporation chamber as a function of at least one status parameter of the gas to be enriched with the anesthetic and/or of the gas at least partially enriched with the anesthetic.

  • Patent number: 11020551
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system (10) and a corresponding method for estimating the respiratory drive (R_DRIVE) of mechanically ventilated patients, and for preferably apportioning this respiratory drive into one, or more, components related to the chemical drive—i.e. the drive due to the chemoreceptor response—and/or the muscular drive—i.e. the contraction of respiratory muscles, for example the diaphragm. The principle of the invention is that respiratory drive can be obtained from measuring the patient's response to small changes in mechanical ventilation settings (Vt_SET), and that this can be apportioned into chemical and/or muscular effects depending upon the changes in respiratory frequency, and/or arterial or end tidal CO2 levels, and/or arterial blood p H.

  • Patent number: 10849726
Abstract: The interproximal toothbrush includes an appliance body and neck with a nozzle member having a nozzle tip shaped to fit into interproximal teeth spaces. Bursts of air or air/liquid mixture are generated, exiting through the nozzle tip. A helix member or, alternatively, a spring, is supported within a channel in the nozzle member. The helix member is free to rotate as air or the air/liquid mixture is moved through the channel. A set of bristles is attached to a forward end of the helix member, so that it rotates with the helix member. Alternatively, a set of bristles is attached to the distal end of the spring so that successive bursts of air or the air/liquid mixture produce an in-and-out movement of the set of bristles toward and away from the teeth.

  • Patent number: 10806625
Abstract: A bladder pressure estimator has in sequence a pump, a first hose, a supply pressure sensor, a second hose, a bladder having an inlet coupled to the second hose, a bladder outlet coupled to a third hose of substantially equal length to the second hose, a return pressure sensor, and a fourth hose coupled to the return pressure sensor and returning fluid from the pump to the reservoir. A pressure estimate is formed by establishing the second hose length and inner diameter as the same as the third hose length and inner diameter, and forming the pressure estimate by averaging the supply pressure and return pressure. In an alternative embodiment, a control regulator forms an error signal from the difference between a setpoint and the average of the supply and return pressures. A head pressure measurement may be done by turning the pump off after a steady state reading is made.

  • Patent number: 10660818
Abstract: A roller system is disclosed that includes a roller axle with a longitudinal axis that houses at least a portion of a latch assembly. The latch assembly includes a latch with an exposed portion that moves substantially orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. The system also has a roller assembly that removably fits around the roller axle and has a latch catch. The system has two configurations: (1) a locked configuration, where the exposed portion of the latch obstructs the latch catch from sliding, thereby locking the roller assembly onto the roller axle; and (2) an unlocked configuration, where the exposed portion of the latch is moved towards the longitudinal axis, thereby allowing the latch catch to slide past, separating the roller assembly from the roller axle.
