Abstract: A method for making a woven dryer fabric having different permeabilities in different sections across its width to control the moisture profile of a web being conveyed through the dryer section of the papermaking machine is disclosed. Additional cross machine yarns are interwoven only over a selected distance or distances across the fabric in the cross machine direction. The non-interwoven segments of the additional cross machine direction yarns form surface floats which are subsequently removed by shearing.

Abstract: The present invention provides an improved sole structure for golf shoes. It has a predetermined number of metal nails located at the front end corresponding to ball portion and the rear end corresponding to heel portion of the sole, and a plurality of soft cleats formed as integrated parts of the sole around the metal nails in order to stabilize attitude of player during striking and to provide good elasticity.

Abstract: A toe leveler for a ski boot is provided and consists of a body member slideably attached to toe portion of the ski boot. The body member is of a predetermined thickness to compensate for angular displacement of the ski boot. When the body member is placed under the toe portion the ski boot can be used to walk upon a flat surface keeping the leg of the skier straight.

Abstract: A walking sole and carrier assembly comprises a pair of walking soles for mounting beneath rigid-bottomed footgear such as ski boots, and a detachable handle for joining the soles in side-by-side relationship to one another so that they form a carrier or boot tree. The lower tread face of each walking sole includes a planar rear surface and a planar front surface which defines an obtuse angle with respect to the rear surface. The junction between the front and rear surface is a straight line, which allows the wearer to rock abruptly from the rear surface to the front surface, simulating the natural action of a foot bending at the ball, and duplicating the toe flexing which would be performed by the back foot during ordinary walking, but which is prohibited by the rigid bottoms of the footgear.

Abstract: Apparatus for precision metering of selected amounts of fungible or granular material such as coffee consisting of a frame, a hopper supported by the frame having a large upper storage area and communicating with a small lower vertically oriented exiting trough, horizontal sliding plate extending below a forward lip of the exiting trough, the horizontal sliding plate having an edge contacting the extended rear lip and for moving the plate to traverse the rear lip during metering of the granular material, receptacle securably attached on an under side of the horizontal sliding plate, and the horizontal sliding plate cooperating with the rear lip during traverse of the horizontal sliding plate for filling the receptacle means by the rear lip causing the metering of the granular material on the sliding plate to dump into the receptacle. The forward lip is adjustable for controlling the magnitude of metering of the granular material.

Abstract: An article of molded athletic footwear is provided in the form of a skate, running shoe or the like. The article of footwear comprises a molded, substantially rigid, lower shell portion which is adapted to receive and substantially encase the sole, toe and heel of a wearer. The instep portion of the lower shell is open to permit access to and from the interior of the shell portion. A molded, semi-rigid tongue is further provided which is integral to the shell adjacent the open instep. The tongue includes a center instep support and at least one pair of complimentary wing portions extending outwardly from the center instep support. The complimentary wing portions are adapted to wrap around a portion of the shell portion and secure together to secure the tongue over part of the shell portion and the wearer's foot. A pair of complimentary securing devices are provided at the outer ends of each of the wing portions and are adapted to secure one wing to the other wing.

Abstract: An insole-ventilating shoe includes: an insole having an air pumping device formed on a rear portion of the insole having an air guide protruding upwardly to exchange fresh air outside the shoe vamp, and plural ventilating grooves with through holes formed on a front portion of the insole for circulating air from the pumping device in the insole and shoe for comforting a wearer's foot.

Abstract: A comfort sole arranged to be mounted in a shoe extends from the heel portion of the shoe to approximately the arch. The sole has a resilient upward curved portion intermediate the sides thereof in the area of the heel portion to form an air chamber between it and the sole of the shoe. This curved portion is arranged to flex up and down due to lifting and lowering of the person's foot while walking or running to pump air from the air chamber around the foot. The comfort sole has a cross sectional shape including thickened side portions which provide good fit and good support of a person's foot. A portion of the shoe may be recessed under the upward curved portion to increase the size of the air chamber.

Abstract: A footwear stabilizer for athletic shoes comprising a sole, an upper attached to the sole and having an opening, and a tongue to complete the opening. Exterior stabilizer means comprising a collar compliant about the ankle and stiff vertically, and a pair of stiffening elements attached to and pivoted about pivot points on opposite sides of the foot below the malleoli, each element extending upwards to join the collar. The collar is tightened about the ankle and joined in front by the shoelaces which pass through eyelets or grommets and also through registered eyelets of the upper and grommets of the collar. The shoe also has a stiff support and a support plate protecting the heel and achilles tendon.

Abstract: A quick-attach/detach footwear-sole rocker system provides for wearers of inflexible-sole footwear such as ski-boots to attach one to each boot sole and enjoy pivotal motion while walking. Each rocker has an elastic loop which may be of bungee cord extending forwardly and one extending rearwardly, for tightly looping around a boot toe portion and heel portion respectively. Adjustment may be by placing knots in the bungee cord at desired locations fixing the cord relative to hole structure in the rocker. Use-ready transport and storage of the rocker system when not in use is provided: a hook on one loop provides for stretching the rocker system around a boot-top or ankle portion and attaching the loops together.

Abstract: Improvement in an attachment for shoes in which a hollow body inflated with air and compressed in use is held on each shoe of a user, the improvement comprising constructing the attachment so that it is a bouncing attachment which provides a bounce for the user in walking, running and jumping, the attachment comprising the body having height, length and width and a nearly spherical surface, an arrangement for holding a single such hollow body positioned beneath the arch of each shoe at the point of balance thereof so that the user is able to tilt on the body about such balance point and the portion of the body in contact with the sole of each shoe covering the entire arch thereof.

Abstract: A sport boot such as ski boot which is both water-proof and air permeable and which is comprised of an outer sheath formed of thick impermeable material, frames provided integrally in suitable portions of the side, upper or sole part of the outer sheath and having hollow axial through-holes, air permeable members fitted into the through-holes and having ventilation through-holes providing ventilation between the inside and outside of the outer sheath, and water-proof air permeable sheets made of porous synthetic fabrics provided in position to cover the top ends of the air permeable members.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a rear-entry ski boot with a closure and flexibility adjustment device which includes a shell to which a rear quarter and a front quarter, mutually closeable on each other, are pivotably coupled. The peculiarity of the invention resides in the fact that it includes closure elements for the mutual tightening of the quarters adapted to act, at the same time, as flexibility adjusters. The closure elements consist of a lever supported by the rear quarter and acting on a cable which embraces the front quarter, with the interposition of a device for adjusting the useful length of the cable. The cable is removably accommodatable in notches provided transversely with respect to a slot defined at the front top edge of the front quarter and extending longitudinally on the front quarter.
