  • Patent number: 11970102
Abstract: A liftgate assembly, such as a for a delivery vehicle, includes a liftgate that is movable by hydraulic power between a raised position and a lowered position. The hydraulic power unit includes an energy-recovery mechanism that stores energy while the liftgate is being lowered under load. Energy stored by the energy-recovery mechanism, such as in an accumulator, may be used to raise the liftgate. The hydraulic power unit includes a pump that pumps hydraulic fluid for providing hydraulic pressure. The liftgate assembly thereby uses energy more efficiently, enabling repurposing part of the energy from lowering the liftgate (and any cargo thereupon) in raising the liftgate.

  • Patent number: 11957078
Abstract: A self unloading harvest cart transfers agricultural products from a harvester to an over-the-road vehicle. A tilting bin within the cart has a base defining four edges, and first, second and third sidewalls each rise from the first, second, and third base edges, respectively. The bin has a generally open face above the fourth base edge. A bin actuator rotates the tilting bin relative to an undercarriage about a first pivotal coupling. A conveyor sidewall encloses the tilting bin adjacent the base fourth edge, and has a conveyor that conveys agricultural product from within the tilting bin to the over-the-road vehicle. A conveyor sidewall actuator rotates the conveyor sidewall relative to the undercarriage about a second pivotal coupling. The conveyor sidewall is rotated away from agricultural product when or just prior to starting the conveyor, to reduce conveyor sidewall starting resistance and reduce the conveyor sidewall initial load.

  • Patent number: 11905130
Abstract: A method is disclosed for using robots to move items from one container to another. The method includes positioning a source container under a suction robot having two degrees of freedom only, the suction robot having a flexible suction end having a variable suction component that can cause suction to occur within the suction end upon contact with an item in the source container. The contact can be non-orthogonal of an end of the flexible suction and a surface of the item. The robot retrieves the item from the source container with the flexible suction end by lowering the flexible suction end into the source container to retrieve the item and lifts the retrieved item from the source container. The robot then moves the retrieved item horizontally from the source container to a destination container.
