Abstract: A filter bed for removing impurities from a liquid stream is described. The filter bed comprises a mat of pliant fibers and relatively stiff fibers. The filter bed may additionally include adsorbent particles. The filter bed can provide desirable filtration efficiencies while exhibiting relatively low operating differentials. A method for separating impurities from a liquid which employs the filter bed is also described.

Abstract: A mixed-matrix composite material reinforced with continuous fibre comprising a flexible sheath of thermoplastic polymer covering a multifibre filament impregnated with a powder consisting of:50-99% by weight, and preferably 70-95%, of a thermoplastic polymer;50-1% by weight, and preferably 30-5%, of a C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 olefin/carbon monoxide alternating polymer having an intrinsic viscosity exceeding 0.1 dl/g when measured in m-cresol at 100.degree. C.

Abstract: Disclosed is a woven fabric used for production of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin laminates wherein each or warps and wefts which constitute the fabric comprises at least one kind of thermoplastic resin yarns and at least one kind of reinforcing yarns and the reinforcing yarns of the warps and wefts as such constitute a weave. The weave constituted of only the reinforcing yarns is preferably a plain weave. The fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin laminates made by compression molding a laminate of said woven fabrics are high in strength.
