  • Patent number: 5960893
Abstract: A fluid-powered percussion tool includes a percussion piston which, under the effect of a control alternately performs a working stroke and a return stroke with the aid of a control valve. The control valve assumes a working stroke or a return stroke position, depending on the position of the percussion piston. In the working stroke position, the percussion piston is admitted with working pressure such that it performs a working stroke counter to the effect of a continuous reset force. In contrast, the percussion piston is connected in the return stroke position to a discharge line so that it performs a return stroke under the effect of the reset force. The control valve is admitted during the working stroke with working pressure and is thereby held in the working stroke position.

  • Patent number: 5957220
Abstract: A compressor piston divides a first compartment into two compression chambers, while a hammer piston divides a second compartment into two drive chambers, each of the compression chambers being connected to a respective one of the drive chambers to form a closed fluid system wherein reciprocation of the compressor piston-causes cyclic compression and expansion of the fluid in the compression chambers and thus in the drive chambers, to effect a cyclic impacting of the hammer piston with a bit adapter connected to the drill bit. A mud motor rotates a shaft to drive an oscillator which reciprocates the compressor piston. The oscillator can comprise roller elements in the compressor piston in engagement with canted grooves in the shaft. While drilling mud drives the motor and then passes downwardly to flush the drill bit and the borehole, the drilling mud is isolated from the closed fluid system.

  • Patent number: 5957362
Abstract: An apparatus for attaching rivets, buttons or the like to textiles or the like, having a plunger which performs the riveting stroke and whose upward and downward movement is controlled by the interaction of the top end of the plunger with a cam plate rotationally driven by an electric motor, the apparatus performing a sequence of attachments upon actuation of a switch or the like, the electric motor (39) running at a fixed preset angular velocity being stopped briefly in the top dead-center position of the plunger (24) by a braking device or the like in order to reduce the cycle frequency of the plunger stroke. To this end, the control unit switches off the drive motor (39) in the top dead-center position of the plunger for a preprogrammed time and switches it on again after the preprogrammed waiting time has expired and actuates a brake in particular during the waiting time.

  • Patent number: 5938100
Abstract: Stapling devices, which form staples from a staple wire transported from supply rolls, are arranged in a stapling apparatus. The supply rolls are associated with a threading-in device which is mounted displaceably on the stapling apparatus. Transport mechanisms as well as feed-in and guide mechanisms are associated with each supply roll. Flexible guide tubes connect the threading-in device to the respective stapling device. • Patent number: 5927585
Abstract: An electric powered multiple impact fastener driving tool comprising a handle portion, a main body portion, a guide block, a magazine, and a guide and biasing assembly mounted in the guide block and affixed to the magazine enabling shifting of the magazine within the guide block between an extended fastener starting position and a retracted fastener driven position. The main body portion contains an impact assembly comprising a motor driven cam wheel with a single drop-off, a cam follower roller mounted on a reciprocable hammer, a compression spring surmounting and abutting the hammer, and a fastener driver. For each rotation of the cam wheel, the cam follower roll lifts the hammer, compressing the spring and storing energy therein. At the cam wheel drop-off, the cam follower wheel and hammer drop under the influence of the spring and the hammer impacts the driver which imparts a blow to the fastener. The cam follower wheel does not contact the cam wheel immediately after drop-off.

  • Patent number: 5913797
Abstract: In the canning of tow produced by a synthetic textile filament extrusion line, a pair of deflecting rolls having radially projecting spokes are positioned immediately above the tow-receiving can for travel of the tow between the rolls to impose a folding or plaiting of the tow as it is deposited into the can, thereby reducing the linear velocity of the tow to mitigate potential entanglement of the tow within the can. The production output and operational speed of the filament extrusion process may thus be optimized without being limited by the downstream canning operation.
