Abstract: A method and a system for structured searches of information via key-objects are disclosed herein. Key-objects may be used to describe certain features or parameters of content within webpages in a structured fashion, may be linked or embedded into respective webpages, and may be subsequently collected and stored by search engines enabling the structured searches. A thesaurus of key-objects may be updated with new key-objects discovered by search engines. Methods described herein may be used for structured searches of merchandise or services in e-commerce or mobile e-commerce thereby facilitating the location and comparison of merchandise by product specifications in lieu of keywords needed to get to the product specifications.

The database system converts a representation of data involving a set of rows of a source database table, each row comprising multiple values, into a representation involving a single row stored in a target database table, each column of the row comprising arrays of values from the set. The database system may perform type-specific compression of data when storing in the target database table. Accordingly, the database system may apply different compression schemes for different columns or sets of values obtained from the source database table and may group or order selected rows or store additional summary information to improve query performance to the target database table. The database system allows users to query data stored in compressed form. The database system combines compressed and uncompressed data at query time for efficient database analytics.

Abstract: Techniques are provided herein for efficient representation of heterogeneous graphs in memory. In an embodiment, vertices and edges of the graph are segregated by type. Each property of a type of vertex or edge has values stored in a respective vector. Directed or undirected edges of a same type are stored in compressed sparse row (CSR) format. The CSR format is more or less repeated for edge traversal in either forward or reverse direction. An edge map translates edge offsets obtained from traversal in the reverse direction for use with data structures that expect edge offsets in the forward direction. Subsequent filtration and/or traversal by type or property of vertex or edge entails minimal data access and maximal data locality, thereby increasing efficient use of the graph.
