Abstract: A reversibly allochroic toner contains a binder resin and a colorant. The colorant reversibly switches between first and second color states in response to temperature changes. The colorant exhibits a hysteresis in a temperature-color state curve thereof in which the following relationships are satisfied. Tr<TL2<TL1<TH1<TH2<Tg TH2?50° C. 20° C.?Tr?30° C. where, TH1 is a temperature at which the colorant starts to change from the first color state to the second color state, TH2 is a temperature at which the colorant completely changes to the second color state, TL1 is a temperature at which the colorant starts to change from the second color state to the first color state, TL2 is a temperature at which the colorant completely changes to the first color state, and Tg is a glass transition temperature of the binder resin.
Abstract: Provided is a toner that has excellent low-temperature fixability and is capable of obtaining an image having a stable image density, in which the occurrence of image defects is suppressed. The toner includes toner base particles, each of which contains a binder resin and a magnetic material, and organic-inorganic composite fine particles on each of the toner base particles. Each of the organic-inorganic composite fine particles comprises a vinyl resin particle, and inorganic fine particles which are embedded in the vinyl resin particle, and at least a part of which are exposed. A toner includes toner particles each including a surface layer that contains an organic silicon polymer. The organic silicon polymer is obtained by polymerizing a compound having a specific structure. The surface layers have a particular average thickness Dav. In mapping by focused-ion-beam time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy, a ratio of silicon ions to carbon ions released from the toner particles upon irradiation of toner particle surfaces with primary ions is a particular value.
Abstract: A method for manufacturing carrier core particles for electrophotographic developer that include manganese, magnesium, and iron as a core composition. The method includes a granulation step (A) of granulating a mixture of raw materials containing manganese, magnesium, and iron with a reducing agent added at a ratio of 0.10% to 1.00% by mass to a total mass of the raw materials containing manganese, magnesium, and iron, and a firing step of firing the granular material granulated in the granulation step. The firing step includes a first heating step (C) of applying heat at a constant temperature ranging from 500° C. to 800° C. in an atmosphere with an oxygen concentration of 1000 ppm to 15000 ppm for a predetermined period of time and a second heating step (D) of applying heat at a temperature higher than 800° C. for a predetermined period of time after the first heating step.
