  • Patent number: 9101299
Abstract: Hearing aids and a method of acoustically fitting the hearing aids comprises providing a plurality of audible tones, each having a predetermined frequency through a pair of hearing aids being worn by a patient. The tones are provided at specific sound pressure in each ear. The patient changes the relative sound pressure in each ear until a perceived direction of source of the tone is in front of the patient. The amplification or attenuation requirements of a hearing aid are modified based on the difference in the sound pressures required for the left and right ears of the patient for perceived directional sameness for each frequency band-pass channel.

  • Patent number: 9061889
Abstract: A MEMS microphone has a support surface, a microphone substrate over the support surface and an assembly of a microphone membrane and spaced back electrode supported over the substrate. The substrate has an opening beneath the assembly. The interface between the support surface and the substrate comprises a plurality of discrete spaced portions. This structure provides some resilience to differential expansion and contraction that can arise during processing. The support surface can then be a different material to the substrate, for example a PCB laminate as the support surface and silicon as the substrate.

  • Patent number: 9055374
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining an auditory pattern associated with an audio segment. An average intensity at each of a first plurality of detector locations on an auditory scale based at least in part on a first plurality of frequency components that describe a signal is determined. A plurality of tonal bands in the audio segment, wherein each tonal band comprises a particular range of detector locations of the first plurality of detector locations is determined. Corresponding strongest frequency components in the tonal bands are determined. A plurality of non-tonal bands is determined, and each non-tonal band is subdivided into multiple sub-bands. Corresponding combined frequency components that are representative of a combined sum of intensities of the first plurality of frequency components that is in a corresponding sub-band are determined. An auditory based on the corresponding strongest frequency components and the corresponding combined frequency components is determined.

  • Patent number: 8842862
Abstract: The adjustment of a hearing device with regard to a current feedback path is to be designed in a more user-friendly manner. For this purpose, provision is made for hearing aid equipment, in particular a hearing device or a non-programmable device such as a headset, including a measuring device for measuring a feedback path and an operating facility for operating the hearing aid equipment by the wearer. The operating facility allows a measurement cycle to be activated to determine at least one characteristic of the feedback path. The hearing aid wearer can thus make adjustments themselves in terms of the feedback path and therefore does not have to rely on an acoustician.
