  • Patent number: 11714280
Abstract: Augmented reality eyewear devices allow users to experience a version of our “real” physical world augmented with virtual objects. Augmented reality eyewear may present a user with a graphical user interface that appears to be in the airspace directly in front of the user thereby encouraging the user to interact with virtual objects in socially undesirable ways, such as by making sweeping hand gestures in the airspace in front of the user. Anchoring various input mechanisms or the graphical user interface of an augmented reality eyewear application to a wristwatch may allow a user to interact with an augmented reality eyewear device in a more socially acceptable manner. Combining the displays of a smartwatch and an augmented reality eyewear device into a single graphical user interface may provide enhanced display function and more responsive gestural input.

  • Patent number: 11677927
Abstract: Methods and graphics processing modules for rendering a stereoscopic image including left and right images of a three-dimensional scene. Geometry is processed in the scene to generate left data for use in displaying the left image and right data for use in displaying the right image. Disparity is determined between the left and right data by comparing the generated left data and the generated right data used in displaying the stereoscopic image. In response to identifying at least a portion of the left data and the right data as non-disparate, a corresponding portion of the left image and the right image is commonly processed (e.g. commonly rendered or commonly stored). In response to identifying at least a portion of the left data and the right data as disparate, a corresponding portion of the left image and the right image is separately processed (e.g. separately rendered or separately stored).

Abstract: Two-dimensional compositing that preserves the curvatures of non-flat surfaces is disclosed. In some embodiments, a mapping is associated with a two-dimensional rendering that maps a potentially variable portion of the two-dimensional rendering to a canvas. The mapping is generated from a three-dimensional model of the potentially variable portion of the two-dimensional rendering. The potentially variable portion of the two-dimensional rendering is dynamically modified according to the mapping to reflect content comprising the canvas or edits received with respect to the canvas.

  • Patent number: 11615602
Abstract: Appearance driven automatic three-dimensional (3D) modeling enables optimization of a 3D model comprising the shape and appearance of a particular 3D scene or object. Triangle meshes and shading models may be jointly optimized to match the appearance of a reference 3D model based on reference images of the reference 3D model. Compared with the reference 3D model, the optimized 3D model is a lower resolution 3D model that can be rendered in less time. More specifically, the optimized 3D model may include fewer geometric primitives compared with the reference 3D model. In contrast with the conventional inverse rendering or analysis-by-synthesis modeling tools, the shape and appearance representations of the 3D model are automatically generated that, when rendered, match the reference images.

  • Patent number: 11615583
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system provide the ability to crop a three-dimensional (3D) scene. The 3D scene is acquired and includes multiple 3D images (with each image from a view angle of an image capture device) and a depth map for each image. The depth values in each depth map are sorted. Multiple initial cutoff depths are determined for the scene based on the view angles of the images (in the scene). A cutoff relaxation depth is determined based on a jump between depth values. A confidence map is generated for each depth map and indicates whether each depth value is above or below the cutoff relaxation depth. The confidence maps are aggregated into an aggregated model. A bounding volume is generated out of the aggregated model. Points are cropped from the scene based on the bounding volume.
