An example apparatus includes a configuration changer to change a configuration setting of the base station to cause mobile devices to register with the base station, a registration manager to respond to registration requests received from the mobile devices after the configuration setting is changed by storing device identification information for the corresponding mobile devices, and a counter controller to identify a number of the mobile devices at a location of the base station based on the stored device identification information.

Abstract: Systems and methods for management of non-linear content presentation and experience are provided. At least one stream may be evaluated in real-time to detect when an event occurs within the evaluated stream. A priority score may be assigned to the detected event, wherein the priority score is updated in real-time. An offer may be generated to a user device regarding the detected event, wherein the user device is not playing the evaluated stream. An acceptance may be received from the user device. The evaluated stream to the user device, wherein the evaluated stream is provided at a point prior to the detected event.

An audio/video device is providing a first media stream for user consumption. Based at least in part on the user profile information, the computing entity determines an interest score for each media stream and, responsive to determining, based at least in part on an analysis of the interest score corresponding to a second media stream and the interest score corresponding to the first media stream, that the interest score corresponding to the second media stream satisfies a configurable criteria, analyzes one or more attributes of the first media stream to determine if the first media stream is eligible for a switch trigger. Responsive to determining that the first media stream is eligible for a switch trigger, the computing entity identifies a stream switch trigger.

The device receives feature information associated with the feature based on determining that the user has the threshold level of interest, and receives feature content data that is associated with feature content that includes the feature information. The device causes the feature content to be embedded into the media stream to cause the user device to display the feature content in relation to the feature when the feature is displayed in the media content via the user interface.

A media device can provide a first segment of a linear sequence of content segments to a display device. The first segment can include an ending frame adjacent to a start frame of a second segment of the linear sequence of content segments, where the second segment is to be replaced by a replacement segment. Based on a determination that the replacement segment is unavailable, the media device can provide one or more additional copies of the ending frame of the first segment to the display device while the replacement segment to replace the second segment is unavailable.

The controller is configured to identify a plurality of frames in video data that differ from surrounding frames by more than a threshold amount; store identifiers of the plurality of frames in the memory; and send the identifiers to the host to enable quick playback of the video data by the host. Other embodiments are possible, and each of the embodiments can be used alone or together in combination.

The circuitry determines a media item in media content of a distribution network. An interactive item is overlaid over the media item in the media content of the distribution network. A personalized list is further generated based on a selection of the interactive item overlaid over the media item in the media content of the distribution network The circuitry further selects a user-selectable option in the generated personalized list with the media content on a client application engine for a defined time duration and determines a measure of an intent score of the user.

Abstract: Provided is a system that includes a circuit to generate an interactive item based on a request received from a first distribution network or a second distribution network. The interactive item is overlaid over a media item present in media content. The circuit then activates the generated interactive item overlaid over the media item of the media content. Further, the circuit receives an event trigger, from a client application engine operational on a user device associated with a user, for a selection of the activated interactive item. A personalized list is generated for the event trigger for the selection of the interactive item. A content serving module of the system is configured to identify at least one secondary source other than the remote computing device and the base station that stores a secondary copy of the digital content item, determine which of the local, remote and secondary copies of the digital content item may be delivered in a least amount of time, and deliver that copy.

Abstract: The invention provides a streaming client with a streaming presentation of an event, with said presentation being obtained by dynamically switching between a plurality of media streams which represent different recordings of the event. For that purpose, source data is obtained from a plurality of stream sources. The source data is constituted by content data and/or metadata of concurrent portions of the plurality of media streams. By applying a quality assessment function to the source data, a quality score is assigned to each one of the concurrent portions. This allows selection data to be generated which enables the streaming client to access a selected one of the concurrent portions of a respective media stream. For example, a segment may be selected which provides a highest quality score. By doing so, it is therefore not required anymore for a consumer to manually switch between different media streams.

Abstract: According to other aspects, a real-time system may be provided that is capable of scaling to hundreds of thousands of real-time clients (or more) to conduct a single-program instance in an interactive manner that combines video elements with interactive program elements. To provide such capabilities, a system and client software is provided that allows real-time distribution of video, and scripted rendering of interactive elements in relation to the video. Such systems may include, for example, cluster-based systems that are capable of scaling horizontally based on the number of clients involved in a particular program instance.

Abstract: Methods useful for non-intrusive advertising on a mobile wireless communications terminal and web are disclosed. A method may include displaying on a display screen of the mobile wireless communications terminal or the web, according to a timed schedule, advertising images. A method may include advertising images waiting for mandatory interaction from the viewer. One embodiment of the present invention includes still images displayed alongside the main video player that morph into moving images upon predefined, obligatory action from the viewer that helps the advertisement develop entirely. This interactive advertising helps marketers promote their brand and increase brand exposure.
