  • Patent number: 10531146
Abstract: Described herein are techniques and mechanisms for providing a lean private copy of media content. According to various embodiments, a private copy of a media content item may be made specific to a user account. For example, to use a private copy of a media content item to present that media content item, a client machine may need to first perform operations such as account authentication, content licensing, and device-based DRM. The private copy of the media content item may be significantly deduplicated such that the actual size on disk of the private copy is small relative to the size of the uncompressed media content item. The private copy of the media content item may include reference information which maps the user account associated with the copy to data files associated with the recording.

  • Patent number: 10524016
Abstract: A system and method of conserving network bandwidth by controlling access to resources. A filtering service determines if a resource should be blocked or allowed to pass between computers on the network based on information about the resource including the path and any query parameters in the URI along with any available metadata about the resource. The metadata may be retrieved from the remote hose, generated based on the content of the resource, or any combination thereof. One or more filtering algorithms may be engaged to compare the information about the resource to filtering rules to determine whether access to the resource is allowed. The information about the resource, and the result of the filtering algorithm may be stored to reduce the time required to make future determinations for the same resource, or for similar resources.

  • Patent number: 10506270
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method for providing redundancy in a video data stream. For every data frame of a plurality of data frames of video content, the method includes dividing the data frame into a plurality of data segments and copying a plurality of each of the plurality of data segments to the plurality of data frames in a data stream to provide redundancy for the data frame within the plurality of data frames in the data stream. The plurality of each of the plurality of data segments is distributed across the plurality of data frames to provide generate a plurality of redundancy-enhanced data frames that provide the redundancy over a protection interval associated with a network path. The method includes transmitting a data stream comprising the plurality of redundancy-enhanced data frames to a receiver via the network path. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10499091
Abstract: A multi-format digital video production system is capable of maintaining full-bandwidth resolution of subject material while providing professional quality editing and manipulation of images intended for digital television and other applications, including digital HDTV programs and specialized video monitoring applications. This allows emerging broadband video transmission media, including Internet broadcast schemes, to overcome existing technology limitations. The approach facilitates high-quality/large-screen video production and monitoring through the use of conventional broadband channels, including those which currently only exhibit bandwidths on the order of 4 Mbps. In formats utilizing substantially 24 fps progressive scan multi-format system, direct streaming is made possible from HDTV (16:9) high-quality data, thereby expanding market applications which require these higher levels of resolution, bits per pixel, and so forth.
