Abstract: Remote access of content in an IMS system is described. A first IMS channel is established between, for example, a user terminal and an IMS Gateway (IG) for control signaling. A second IMS channel is established between, for example, the user terminal and the IG for conveying the content being remotely accessed. Due to limitations in the network, Quality of Service (QoS, or bandwidth) reservations are handled differently on the originating and terminating sides. For example, on the originating side, a single QoS reservation is used for both the first and second IMS channels, whereas on the terminating side separate QoS reservations can be used for the first and second IMS channels.

Abstract: A system for receiving and displaying broadcast audio and visual programming includes a television receiver and a display. The television receiver has a tuner for tuning to the channel to be displayed and is controlled by a processor with which the user communicates by way of a remote control unit. Operation of a random button on the remote control unit causes the processor to initiate a random mode selection whereby the television receiver randomly selects and displays one of the broadcast channels received.

Abstract: At least a first image, such as a motion video image, is prepared for integration with at least a second image, such as a motion video image and/or a still image. The first image may be a barker, and the second image may be a menu or programming guide. To prepare the first image for integration, a first compressed image is formed, restricted to a first region of a first image area by representing at least one segment of a first image within the first region with a reference to another segment of the first image within the first region. The second image may also be prepared for integration by forming a second compressed image. The second compressed image may be restricted to a second region of a second image area by representing at least one segment of the second image within the second region with a reference to another segment of the second image within the second region.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling audio/video display using a policy is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for policy-based control of audio/video display including monitoring at least one of at least one audio/video signal input or at least one power outlet using a policy, wherein the policy defines information for controlling audio/video display and in response to a detection of at least one of an audio/video signal or an electrical power, routing the at least one of the audio/video signal or the electrical power according to the policy.

Abstract: Exemplary methods and systems for providing enhanced content by way of a virtual channel are disclosed herein. An exemplary method includes a service provider subsystem providing a virtual channel, associating the virtual channel with a content provider, receiving enhanced content to be provided by way of the virtual channel from the content provider, associating one or more selectable triggers with the virtual channel, and providing a user with access to the enhanced content in response to a selection by the user of one of the one or more selectable triggers. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: A terminal and method for outputting information are provided. The method includes the terminal performing a broadcast-related operation, outputting information having an output amount while performing the broadcast-related operation and subsequently outputting an amount of the information that was not output during the broadcast related operation when the broadcast-related operation is completed. Therefore, it is possible to fully provide useful information to the user during a wait time generated in connection with a broadcast mode.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for accurate, secure and uniform exchange of audience research data. In one embodiment, viewership data is provided in real-time and offers the ability to monitor audience activities regarding, among others, broadcast, VOD or DVR content. A standardized message configuration is optionally used also to permit maximum uniformity and accessibility of the data. Accuracy of data exchange is enforced by implementing a method of detecting system failures, and the transmission of incomplete messages. Subscriber privacy and anonymity is also maintained via e.g., hashing or encrypting data relating to the CPE and/or subscriber, thus ensuring that stored data is not traceable to a specific user account. The methods and apparatus may also be utilized in conjunction with systems enabling the insertion and/or recommendation of content or advertising based on data collected regarding user actions or events. Business methods are also disclosed.

In one embodiment, the method comprises extracting user events from a log database, tagging each event as positive or negative, determining if a video is positively interacted and processing the tagged videos in a sliding window to determine positive interactions between a pair of videos.

A media manipulation action for the entertainment content is determined. A notification that the media manipulation action is available for the entertainment content is displayed. Controls to store the media manipulation action on a user account are provided, and the manipulation action is stored to the user account.

In this regard, electronic devices in a vehicle may be communicatively coupled via one or more Ethernet links and information may be communicated between the electronic devices over the Ethernet link(s) utilizing audio video bridging. At least one of multimedia, control, diagnostic, and sensory information between the electronic devices. Accordingly, resources on the one or more Ethernet links may be reserved via AVB to give priority to one of multimedia, control, diagnostic, and sensory information. Information communicated between the devices may be secured utilizing MACsec and related protocols. The electronic devices may comprise two or more network ports and may be enabled to forward packets between the two or more ports. The Ethernet links may comprise optical and/or copper cabling.

The user may also be able to send commands, such as record the media program or set up a reminder about the media program, through a DVR scheduling facility to the set top box. Abstract: A gain-determining method for grayscale white balance of a display apparatus comprising a panel is provided. The method first displays a white, a red, a green, and a blue images on the panel respectively and measures the chromatic values and luminance of the images. Next, the chromatic values and luminance of a target white image is inputted. Following, according to the measured chromatic values and luminance of the white, the red, the green and the blue images, a first set of color mixture ratios is calculated. Then, according to the chromatic values and luminance of the target white image and the chromatic values and luminance of the red, the green and the blue images, a second set of color mixture ratios is calculated. Finally, according to the first set and the second set of color mixture ratios, a red gain, a green gain and a blue gain are calculated.

Abstract: Encoding program guides and user interfaces, which may include multiple encoded videos and multiple encoded graphics, is disclosed. The encoded videos may be combined together as an encoded composite video that is decoded to produce a display screen having each of the videos presented in a different region. Further, each one of the encoded videos may be combined with each one of the encoded graphics to form a second encoded composite video that is decoded to produce a display screen having graphic data presented in one region and a video presented in another region of the display screen.
