The method of controlling the components in a machine having a plurality of enclosed heating zones followed by at least one cooling zone containing gas, and a conveyor for passing circuit boards therethrough on a conveyor path, comprises the steps of removing a portion of gas from at least one of the heating zones, cooling and filtering the portion of gas remote from the heating zones and the cooling zone to condense at least some of the volatile components in the portion of gas, and returning the cooled and filtered portion of gas to at least one other zone of the heating zones and the cooling zone.

    Abstract: A filter assembly (10) with a filter housing (12) and a bag-type filter element (14). A collar (36) is disposed inside the housing below an opening (42) through which a process stream is introduced into the filter assembly. The filter element includes a filter bag (70) to which a sealing ring (72) is attached. The sealing ring is formed to define a channel (84) in which the collar is seated. The sealing ring also has a lip (86) that snap secures against a complementary stepped surface (60) formed around the collar. A gasket (85) attached to the sealing ring forms a liquid-tight barrier between the collar and the sealing ring. The collar is also formed with a boss (62). The sealing ring defines a alignment notch (88). In order to seal the filter element in place, boss (62) must seat in alignment notch (88); this ensures that when the filter element is secured in place, it is properly aligned with the other components of the filter assembly.

    Abstract: A process for treating bacteria laden effluent from a sewage treatment digester to condition the effluent for release into the environment includes the steps of thoroughly mixing the effluent with a bactericide, conveying the mixed effluent to a reaction zone to completely kill any bacteria entrained in the waste water to provide a substantially bacteria free effluent, mixing an oxidant with the bacteria free effluent, maintaining the mixture for a sufficient time to permit substantially complete oxidation and neutralization of entrained bactericide, and discharging the treated effluent into the environment. In an alternative procedure the treated effluent is passed through a neutralizing filtration step to neutralize any active bactericide before the effluent is discharged to the environment.

    Abstract: A waste containing organic solids is fed into a boiler after it has been subjected to a hydrothermal reaction treatment in the presence of water. A slurry containing the waste is held under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions to cause a hydrothermal reaction such that an acidic slurry is formed during part of or throughout the process of the hydrothermal reaction. Thereby the content of oxygen in the waste relative to carbon atoms in building molecules of the waste is reduced. This concurrently causes removal of halogens in said building molecule and transferring the halogens into the slurry. The slurry then is cooled and dewatered and fed into a combustion section of the boiler. The waste slurry to be subjected to the hydrothermal reaction can be sorted into two portions for separate storage. One portion is a waste slurry the pH of which will increase as a result of the hydrothermal reaction. The other portion is a waste slurry the pH of which will decrease during the hydrothermal reaction.

A certain percentage of the air thus is bypassed. A scented pellet is provided in the bypass and is heated when the air is heated, and thereby evaporates a scent into the air. (It will evaporate scent when the air is cold, also.) Passage of the scent to the cold air pipe insures that it is heated again by the combustion chamber of the furnace, and the scent thereby is fairly evaporated and spread through the heating system.

The material is conveyed by the cooperating rollers along the path from the body and squeezed at the nip by the cooperating rollers to force the oil-based liquid to flow along the material. The diverter guides the oil-based liquid away from the material as the oil-based liquid flows along the material from the cooperating rollers. A scraper is engaged with the material ahead of the cooperating rollers along the path to remove debris from material prior to the material passing through the cooperating rollers.
