  • Patent number: 4621750
Abstract: A valve for dispensing fluid products includes a valve body comprised of a first portion including a first open ended passageway therethrough, and a second portion having a second passageway open at a first end and substantially closed at a second end. A port in the side wall of the second portion is disposed so that the first and second passageways are disposed in fluid communication with each other. A handle is operatively connected to the body and extends partially into the second passageway. A generally tube-like seal member is closely housed in the second passageway and is adapted to close the port for blocking fluid communication between the two passageways. The seal member is selectively shiftable by the handle between a first, normal position in blocking relation to the port and a second position in spaced relation to the port. The valve body and handle may be integrally molded with each other from a plastic material.

  • Patent number: 4620646
Abstract: This invention relates to a pump dispensing type container and more particularly to the manner in which the customary pump button and overcap are assembled with respect to the container and pump assembly. Orientation of the pump button with respect to the overcap has been a problem. According to this invention the pump button is so related to the overcap so that the pump button need not be initially oriented with respect to the overcap, but after the pump button and overcap have been assembled with the container and pump assembly, the overcap will be held in place in a non-dispensing position until such time as the ultimate user rotates the pump button into alignment with the overcap. At this time the pump button is in position for actuation and is held in place by its interlocking with the dispensing tube of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4609128
Abstract: The device permits dosing a secondary fluid in a principal fluid and comprises a body (1) in which is provided a passageway (20) for the circulation of the principal fluid and having an inlet orifice (22) and distribution orifices (23) for the fluid, which distribution orifices open onto a cylindrical chamber (3) defined by a housing (2), the chamber (3) containing means (39, 16, 19, 27, 28, 30) for driving a pump (36) of the secondary fluid which comprise three pistons (30) mounted on radial rods (16) pivotally mounted on an arm (15) of a crank (39) adapted to drive in alternating translation a dosing piston (35) of the pump (36). Each piston (30) is slidable in a cylinder (28) pivotally mounted on a pin (40). This measuring-dosing device delivers additive in proportion to the rate of flow of the principal fluid in synchronism with the crank (39) and without the use of any spring.

  • Patent number: 4600128
Abstract: The top wall of the container opposite the bottom slopes upward slightly at one side where a curved neck adjoins it. At the far end of the neck, there is a threaded cylindrical mouthpiece holding an insert, which may have a drip-disk at the outer end if the container is used for a liquid cleanser. The center line of the cylindrical mouthpiece is slightly inclined downward relative to the horizontal. A depression in the top wall catches drops of liquid falling from the drip-disk, if any. In the area of transition from the top wall to the neck, the latter is partially encircled by a groove leading into the depression. Any drops of liquid clinging to the neck are guided by this groove into the depression. Thus the part of the container intended to be grasped always remains dry.

  • Patent number: 4598842
Abstract: A hot melt adhesive dispensing system including a hot melt adhesive dispenser, a hot melt adhesive tank, and a hose for coupling hot melt adhesive from the tank to the dispenser. The dispenser, the tank and the hose are heated by electrical heaters to maintain the adhesive in a suitable molten condition for dispensing and for flowing from the tank to the dispenser. When the hot melt adhesive system is first energized, the hose and tank heaters are coupled to a source of electrical power and the temperature at either the tank or the hose is sensed. When the sensed temperature reaches a suitable preselected level, the dispenser heater is then energized by coupling the heater to a source of electrical power. In this way, as the adhesive in the dispenser is heated from a solid to a molten form, it is free to expand into the hose, with the adhesive in the hose adjacent the dispenser having already been heated to a molten state.

  • Patent number: 4593837
Abstract: There is disclosed a pipette useful with disposable tips, comprising a plurality of differently-sized pistons and a piston chamber for each piston. Each piston chamber has a vent passageway extending to the exterior surface of the pipette. The pipette is improved in that the mounting means for mounting a disposable tip comprises, not one surface, but a plurality of differently-sized surfaces. Furthermore, the vent passageway for all but the smallest piston chamber exits at a location in between the mounting surface for the tip of that particular piston chamber and the next smaller mounting surface, whereby the larger disposable tips seal over the vent passageways of the smaller disposable tips.

  • Patent number: 4591072
Abstract: A repeating dispenser for dispensing uniform quantities of liquid includes an actuator rotatably connected to an actuating button. The actuator is biased upward by a spring towards a downwardly facing abutment in the non-actuated condition of the dispenser and is connected through a vertically displaceable rack shaft to a slide which releaseably mounts a cylinder piston device comprising a plurality of identical pistons and cylinders. An operating rod connects the slide to a suction button which is slideable along the outside surface of the dispenser. A pawl cooperates with the rack shaft and is kept from engagement with the rack shaft in the non-actuated condition of the dispenser. The actuating button includes a series of step-like stop portions engageable with an upwardly facing abutment to allow the repeated dispensing of uniform quantities of liquid.
