Abstract: The disclosure includes a system and method for determining an influence score for a user. The system includes a classification module, a controller, a determination module, a ratio module and a score module. The classification module creates an influence profile for a first user. The controller determines activity data associated with a set of active users. The determination module determines how frequently the activity data associated with the active users describes the first user and a second user that has a second influence score. The determination module determines a first user activity score and a second user activity score. The ratio module compares the first user activity score to the second user activity score to determine an influence ratio. The score module determines a first influence score for the first user based at least in part on the influence ratio and the second influence score for the second user.

Abstract: The present invention is a method for performing a multi-protocol scan of a NAS system by a storage virtualization system to create a multi-protocol file index. Current NAS systems may utilize two protocols, CIFS and NFS. Storage virtualization systems migrate, redirect or synchronize data between a primary and a secondary NAS. Present storage virtualization systems are designed to work with NFS or CIFS systems, but not both. The present invention enables a storage virtualization system to simultaneously or near-simultaneously operate using NFS and CIFS protocols. The present invention also provides for a multi-protocol scan of a NAS device to ensure that all data files and data file attributes are recognized and preserved during storage virtualization.

Abstract: Co-selected images are labeled based on a topic score that is a measure of relevance of the co-selected image to a first topic to which a reference image belongs. The first topic to which the reference image belongs is identified based on a reference label associated with the reference image. The co-selected images are images that are selected for presentation subsequent to selection of the reference image during a user session. The co-selected images are identified based on selection data for user sessions in which the reference image was selected for presentation. The topic score is generated based on a frequency of selection of the co-selected image. Image search results for a second topic can be filtered to remove images that are labeled as belonging to the first topic or the image search results can be reordered to adjust the presentation positions at which images are referenced based on the topic to which the images belong.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for clustering news stories, which are to be presented over a computer network. In general, an incremental clustering system is configured to update a current set of news clusters with newly arrived news articles without having to recompute the clusters for the entire corpus, as well as form new clusters for recently generated news topics. In one embodiment, a plurality of news articles are initially obtained via the computer network, and the news articles are clustered into a plurality of initial clusters. For only news articles, including any unclustered news articles, that are less than a predetermined age limit, it is determined in an incremental clustering process whether to form one or more new clusters or assign to the initial clusters.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for real-time, multi-dimensional reporting and analyzing of data on application level activity and other user information on a mobile data network. A report manager communicates with a data manager to develop and test real-time reports about aggregate and user-level network usage. The data manager provides a database of non-aggregate, user-specific event data and a set of tables specifying combinations of monitored variables satisfying a set of defined reports. The report manager comprises a report generation module, which receives operator instructions for aggregate usage information. The report module determines whether the requested information can be satisfied by combinations of monitored aggregate variables, or whether it must be retrieved from a non-aggregate, user-specific, event data database. Furthermore, the report module is responsive to operator instructions to add a test report to the set of defined real-time reports.

Abstract: Persisting metadata in an information management system. During information management, metadata is collected and generated for objects in the computing environment. The metadata is used to classify the objects in order to provide certain services to the objects. The metadata is then selectively persisted to improve performance of the information management system in providing the services. Selectively persisting metadata can also reduce storage requirements.

Abstract: Methods and systems provide tools that enable users to manage electronic messages by obtaining additional information about senders, receivers or entities mentioned in messages. A computing device may identify a sender or recipient of an electronic message and search a database to obtain additional data about the sender or recipient. The additional data may be displayed with the electronic message. The additional data may also be used to calculate importance values that the computing device can use to highlight, preferentially display, or sort the electronic messages. The importance values may be calculated by applying sorting algorithms to the retrieved additional data based on user defined criteria. Importance values may also be based upon information obtained from messages. A graphical user interface may be implemented to enable users to specify criteria and weighting factors to apply in sorting electronic messages.

Abstract: A facility for representing in a relational database informational content of the series of tag-language messages is described. The facility reads an arbitrary number of the tags contained by the series of messages. For each read tag, the facility determines a path for the tag, the name of a relational table assigned to the path, values specified for the tag and/or attributes of the tag, in the name of columns of relational tables assigned to the tag and/or tag attribute values. After doing this processing, the facility updates the relational database so that and it includes all of the assigned relational tables and a relational table columns, and populates the value specified for the tags and/or attributes of tags to the relational database.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system of performing de-duplication for at least one computer file in a computer system. In an exemplary embodiment, the method and system include (1) tuning a rolling-hash algorithm for the de-duplication, (2) chunking the data in the file into chunks of data by using the tuned algorithm, (3) producing a content identifier for each of the chunks, and (4) processing the chunks that are unique, the content identifier for each of the chunks that are unique, and references to the chunks that are unique. In an exemplary embodiment, the computer system includes a de-duplication-enabled data store. In an exemplary embodiment, the computer system includes (a) a transferor computer system that is configured to transfer the file to a de-duplication-enabled computer system and (b) the de-duplication-enabled computer system.

Abstract: A method and device relating to destination prediction of communication messages is presented. The device may include an analyzer configured to analyze a message entered in a universal input field. The analyzer may also provide a search variable based on the entered message. The device may also include a or which may be configured to receive the search variable and determine at least one suggested destination based on the search variable. The prediction of communication destinations eliminates the need for various menus and sub-menus. Thus, a user may send a communication message without the need of lengthy navigations.

Abstract: Various systems and methods for providing a policy realization framework for a communications network are disclosed. The policy realization framework can be an application and service layer policy framework that is separate and distinct from the network layer policy framework. As such, policy decisions can be made remote from the network layer, and common policies across multiple networks are possible. Methods and systems for providing these and other features are disclosed. A master policy repository for a policy realization framework, and methods of implementing the master policy repository, are also disclosed.

Abstract: There is described a method implemented on a social search server for presenting names of members of a social network who shared information about a commercial item to a user performing a search from a user interface of a user device. The user is registered on the social network and has connections thereon. The method comprises: indexing data representative of activities of the members on the social network; extracting commercial items from the indexed activity data; receiving a search query along with a user identifier; identifying a commercial item within the search query; using the search query and the user identifier, performing a search on the extracted commercial items specific to the user's connections to obtain names of members who shared information about the commercial item; and returning the names of the members who shared information about the commercial item to the user device.
