Patent number: 4695206Abstract: A pneumatic conveyor for particulate material of low weight per piece comprises a separator formed by a cellular rotor with a filter wall adapted to separate the particulate material as the carrying air flows to the suction side of a blower. The pressure side of said blower is in communication with a conveyor duct communicating with the separator and having a threshold forcing part of the air upwards into the rotor so as to pass the filter wall in the opposite direction, thereby blowing the filter clean before the air contributes to the further conveyance of material through the duct.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1986Date of Patent: September 22, 1987Assignee: Kongskilde Koncernselskab A/SInventor: Jens O. Patent number: 4693199Abstract: A release arrangement for a sailboard footstrap (10) which has a female member (22) and a male member (74). The female member (22) is composed of two identical components (38,40) which locate together by means of pins (52,152) locating in apertures (154,54). Chamfered apertures (48,148) in resilient arm portions (46,146) of the female member (22) are adapted to receive and retain frusto-conical bosses (94,90) on the male member (74). The bosses (94,90) are located on a portion (82) of the male member (74), the sides (84,86) of which abut pins (52,152) when relative rotation of the members (22,74) about the engaged bosses and apertures (94,48; 90,148) occurs, the abutment serving to lever the bosses (94,90) from the apertures (48,148) at a predetermined magnitude of force exerted to cause rotation. The male (74) and female (22) members may also disengage at other predetermined magnitudes of forces exerted upon the arrangement in other directions.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1985Date of Patent: September 15, 1987Inventors: Ludwig Omachen, Stephen Janson

Patent number: 4693200Abstract: Apparatus for protectively enclosing and/or treating the submerged portion of a body floating on a surface of water, such as a boat hull, to prevent or reduce the growth of marine organisms on the submerged portion. The apparatus is formed of a generally rectangular frame having a depending water impervious envelope attached thereto sufficiently large to enclose the submerged portion of the floating body. The frame is formed of hollow tubular front, side and rear members with the front member being filled with floatation material which maintains the front member floating at all times on the surface of the water. Pump means are associated with the frame, preferably mounted the rear tubular member, with the pump adapted to pump water into the side and rear tubular means to cause the rear member to be submerged and moved pivotally downwardly about the floating front member so that the floating body, such as a boat, can be moved across the submerged rear member into the area defined by the rectangular frame.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1985Date of Patent: September 15, 1987Assignee: Noble Boyd EnterpisesInventor: Thomas D. Patent number: 4693436Abstract: A parachute having a canopy with a number of suspension lines has a pair of losing flaps attached to opposite sides of the canopy. Holes in flaps match locking loops on an apron and the suspension lines are bighted to hold the canopy shut as the parachute is deployed. The suspension lines are incrementally pulled free from the apron while the parachute skirt remains closed. As the suspension lines reach the locking loops and are pulled free from the locking loops, air enters the skirt to cleanly open the canopy thereby preventing unwanted parachute opening anomalies.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1986Date of Patent: September 15, 1987Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: David Gold, deceased, Sara Gold, executrix

Patent number: 4691877Abstract: A compound helicopter shown in FIG. 1 of the drawings has wings 12 in addition to a helicopter rotor 14 and has twin powerplants 16 each including a low pressure compressor 18, a core engine 20, a power turbine 22 driven by the core engine and connected through a gearbox 32 to drive the helicopter rotor, and a variable area final, propulsion nozzle 24 which receives the exhaust from the power turbine. Augmentor wing flaps 28 are provided on the wings and fed with air from the low pressure compressor for providing additional lift and thrust from the wings. In operation, at take-off the nozzles 24 are fully opened and all of the power produced by the power turbines 22 is used in driving the helicopter rotor for producing lift. In addition, the augmentor wing flaps 28 are directed downwardly to provide lift. For forward flight the nozzles 24 are closed down, reducing the power to the rotor and slowing it down, while at the same time generating forward thrust.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1986Date of Patent: September 8, 1987Assignee: Rolls-Royce plcInventor: Ralph M. Patent number: 4692125Abstract: The invention relates to a swimming and bathing aid especially for young children with a chest ring 19 and with two arm floating elements 17, 18 which are connected with the chest ring 19. The chest ring has such a volume that it creates along the buoyancy necessary for swimming. The arm floating elements (17,18) do not dip into the water in a static swimming position and they are used as balancing elements against lateral swimming movements. For this the arm floating elements extend in a sideward upper direction from the upper arms (34, 35) and they are connected with the upper arms (34, 35) and with the chest ring (19). The chest ring (19) is divided at its rear side by a gap so that it can be adapted to different chest dimensions. The chest ring (19) is held together by a strip (30) which forms with the strips (26,27) a harness in which the arm floating elements (17, 18) the chest ring (19) and a child (33) are contained.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1986Date of Patent: September 8, 1987Inventor: Borje Wessman

Patent number: 4690649Abstract: This invention, a Center Stern Outboard Motor Mount For Double-End Canoes, is useful for mounting an outboard motor on a double-end canoe of any type or make, and places the weight and thrust of the motor at center stern. This arrangement is safer and more energy efficient than the side clamping motor mounts often used on double-end canoes. This Motor Mount consists of a block of material, such as wood, to which an outboard can be clamped, that is fastened to a rigid piece of elongated material such as aluminum or fibre glass, with bends and curves so as to conform to the profile of the stern deck and the stem of the canoe for which it is made, and is fastened securely thereto by a selection of bolts, taut lines, hooks and a locking peg, according to the pecularities of the various stern designs of double-end canoes.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1985Date of Patent: September 1, 1987Inventor: Richard E.
