Abstract: Provided are methods and systems for controlling data such as content and/or application data transmitted to one or more user devices. One method can comprise receiving a request for first content and generating, in response to the request for the first content, a first transport stream comprising the first content and application data relating to a first application. At least a portion of the first transport stream is transmitted to a recipient device. An interruption in the transmission of the first transport stream is detected and a determination is made that only a first portion of the application data has been transmitted to the recipient device. A second transport stream including second content and a second portion of the application data is generated and transmitted.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing composite content, such as video content, by compositing. A template content may be received and may have one or more color blocks. One or more drop-in content sets may each have one or more drop-in content that correspond to the one or more colors of the template content color blocks. The one or more color blocks of the template content may be replaced with its corresponding drop-in content from one of the one or more drop-in content sets to generate a composite content. Furthermore, the composite content may have demographic, geographic, and/or behavioral parameters associated with it to enable targeting the composite content, such as in the form of advertisements and/or product or service recommendations, to one or more users.

Abstract: Systems and methods for combining a satellite broadcast system with a wireless system are described. The system comprises a satellite receive antenna and a wireless system device coupled thereto, the wireless system device comprising a wireless network antenna, a wireless radio system coupled to the antenna, a networking bridge coupled to the radio system, and a coaxial networking bridge for coupling a satellite signal on the satellite broadcast system with a wireless signal on the wireless network, wherein the coaxial network bridge enables a device to receive the satellite signal and the wireless signal.

Abstract: A method implementable on a computing device for generating interstitial material for video content includes generating at least one instantiated script by inserting metadata related to the video content into at least one script template, scoring the instantiated scripts according to a predefined set of weights associated with a profile for a viewing audience to produce scored scripts, and selecting from said scored scripts according to at least said scoring for rendering as said interstitial material. Related apparatus and methods are also described.

The video hosting system associates a time and place for broadcasts and limits users from joining a broadcast who do not correspond to the time and place of the broadcast. Users of the video hosting system may search for and view videos associated with a broadcast and compile portions of videos associated with a broadcast to create a compilation.

Abstract: Methods, systems, devices, and products provide sample content. One such device includes a processor that receives an electronic programming guide including a listing of available content. The processor also receives an ancillary stream of including samples of content listed in the electronic programming guide. The processor receives a subscriber input that selects a particular content from the electronic programming guide. The processor filters unselected samples of content from the ancillary stream of data to produce a sample of the selected particular content. The processor processes the sample as a video signal, thus producing a preview of the selected particular content.

Abstract: Techniques are described for providing functionality to allow a viewer of a television show to watch a “previously on” segment of an episode of the television show and be able to watch the scenes from prior episodes referenced in the “previously on” segment.

The method includes detecting, utilizing the target device, a matrix code associated with an audio/visual program. Data encoded in the matrix code includes program identifying information and elapsed time information with respect to the program. The method further includes generating, utilizing the target device, a request for the program based at least in part on the encoded data. The method also includes transmitting, utilizing the target device, the program request across a network.

Abstract: Provided are a fusion device, system and method for implementing an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) service. The fusion device integrates a Content Delivery Network (CDN) component and a network component. The CDN component receives a media service request initiated by a Set Top Box (STB), searches in a service policy template database for a service policy template matching a service type carried by the request, initiate a network support request to the network component, and uses the service policy template to provide a service for the STB after receiving a success response message fed back by the network component; and the network component searches in a network policy template database for a network policy template matching a service policy after receiving the network support request, executes the network policy template, feeds back a success response message when the execution succeeds, and uses the network policy template to provide a network resource support for the CDN component.

Abstract: An intelligent television and methods for interactive channel navigation and channel switching are disclosed. Specifically, an input may be received at the intelligent television that prompts the display of a list or other collection of channel tiles to a display area of an intelligent television. The list or other collection may include at least one channel tile that can visually represent broadcast content available on a channel via an image, without tuning to a channel to retrieve the image. Upon receiving a navigational input, a focus may move to an alternate channel tile. Upon receiving a selection input, the television may tune to the channel that is associated with a channel tile currently associated with a focus. The list or other collection of one or more channel tiles may contain one or more subsets of channel tiles, which may be associated with a collection of favorite or recommended channels.

Abstract: A method determines user preference information for a user for a number of advertisements in a set of advertising blocks and a temporal distribution of the advertising blocks. When each advertising block in the set of advertising blocks occurs according to the temporal distribution during sending of a video program, the method determines a number of advertisements in the advertising block based on the user preference information, determines advertisements for the advertising block equal to the number of advertisements, and sends the determined advertisements during the advertising block.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system, method, and computer program product for relating a metadata tag to a television program identifier and associating a hashtag with metadata associated with the television program. A mapping server receives a request that includes a metadata tag (e.g., a hashtag) for a social object, such as a comment or a post to a social network. The mapping server generates a graph to determine a set of television program identifiers likely associated with the metadata tag. Furthermore, the mapping server compresses graph data over time to reduce the time needed to perform a query to the graph.
