  • Patent number: 7889961
Abstract: Adapter modules, housing assemblies that house the adapter modules, and frame assemblies that contain the housing assemblies are disclosed that are all relatively compact and support a relatively high density of components. The modules, assemblies and frames have configurations that take advantage of bend-insensitive cable fibers and jumper fibers. The adapter module is a cassette-like case that allows for a length of cable fiber to be wound tightly therein in a substantially circular loop configuration when closed. The housing assembly houses a plurality of adapter modules and is configured so that the cable and jumper fibers have relatively tight bends within the housing interior. The frame assembly is configured to support a plurality of stacked housing assemblies and to route the jumper fibers through routing conduits and/or routing troughs so that the jumper fibers are enclosed within the frame assembly rather than dangling outside of the frame.

  • Patent number: 7874652
Abstract: A liquid transporting apparatus includes a channel unit in which a plurality of pressure chambers are provided, and a piezoelectric actuator which changes individually a volume of each of the pressure chambers. The piezoelectric actuator includes a vibration plate, a piezoelectric body provided on one surface of the vibration plate, and electrodes which apply an electric voltage to the piezoelectric body. The other surface of the vibration plate is joined to the channel unit to close openings of the pressure chambers, and the one surface of the vibration plate includes an uncovered area which is not covered with the piezoelectric body. Since a heater is provided in the uncovered area, and an electrode for applying an electric current is provided separately from the electrodes of the piezoelectric actuator, it is possible to operate the heater even when the piezoelectric actuator is being driven.

  • Patent number: 7873250
Abstract: A liquid crystal display having a plurality of pixels (1), comprising an lower electrode layer (21), a transparent upper electrode layer (13), a liquid crystal layer (10) arranged between the upper and lower electrode layers (13, 21) and an at least partly reflective layer (20, 30), for at least partly reflecting incident light having passed through the liquid crystal layer (10). The reflective layer (20, 30) is electrically isolated from the lower electrode layer (21) and positioned between the liquid crystal layer (10) and the lower electrode layer (21). With this arrangement the DC-component of an electric field in the liquid crystal layer can be eliminated or, at least, considerably reduced, and a flicker-free reflective or transflective LCD thereby realized. Furthermore, flicker is eliminated without having to pay the price of reduced reflectance of the reflective layer and the consequent reduction in display brightness and contrast.
