  • Patent number: 7201111
Abstract: Boat hulls or assemblies have sequences of groups of downward-facing sections such as planing sections. A sequence includes a lowermost group and supplemental groups above it. Each group could, for example, be a pair, and the pairs could be port-starboard symmetrical. The lower surface is shaped so that the boat hull, in a series of speed ranges, planes on successively lower groups, planing on the lowermost group in the highest range. The trim angle can be between 3.0° and 6.0° in a speed range. The boat hull can be structured so that, when planing on one of the groups, the next higher group dries out. For example, each pair of sections can have an outward angle not smaller than the next inward pair's. The lowermost group can have a maximum width approximately equal to an ideal beam width for a set of displacement characteristics and its target maximum speed.

  • Patent number: 5517935
Abstract: There is presented an underwater vehicle polymer ejection control valve ambly comprising a valve in communication with a polymer reservoir and in communication with ejection ports. The assembly further comprises a valve actuator including structure responsive to the vehicle in an ascending mode reaching a first predetermined depth in a water column to open the valve to place the polymer reservoir in communication with the ejection ports. The aforementioned structure is further responsive to the vehicle reaching a second and lesser predetermined depth to close the valve to interrupt communication between the polymer reservoir and the ejection ports.

  • Patent number: 4414911
Abstract: The berth for offshore platform has a floating fendering system to which the supply boat is berthing and derrick crane which lifts the floating fendering system from water to the level of the upper deck of offshore platform. When berth is in working position the floating fendering system is connected to the suspended massive intermediate platform, which serves as a gravity absorption system, accomodating impact from the berthing ship and waves action. The boom of the derrick crane and suspension system for massive intermediate platform incorporates permanent ladders, which provide reliable and safe connection for personnel between the upper deck of the offshore platform and supply boat, moored to the platform. The passenger elevator is provided for more comfortable transportation for the personnel between the supply ship and upper deck of the platform.

  • Patent number: 4178873
Abstract: A marine stern drive includes an inboard engine having an exhaust passageway connected to an outboard drive unit having an exhaust passageway. A transom bracket assembly positioned between the engine and the drive unit permits vertical pivoting of the drive unit for steering and horizontal pivoting of the drive unit for steering and horizontal pivoting of the drive unit for trimming. The improvement includes a first exhaust pipe connected to the inboard engine and a second exhaust pipe connecting to the drive unit. The first exhaust pipe extends outward through the transom of the boat and has an open end position centered on and adjacent the vertical pivot axis and below the vertical pivot axis. The second exhaust pipe extends towards and ends in alignment with the end position of the first exhaust pipe to form an interface which includes an opening between the pipe ends.
