  • Patent number: 10076646
Abstract: An applicator includes a roller, a treatment composition component, a cutaneous measurement component, and a controller. The roller contacts a portion of skin at a contact location and subsequently a target location. The treatment composition component selectively deposits a composition on a roller surface at a deposition location that is on the roller surface a circumferential distance away from the contact location. The cutaneous measurement component generates one or more parameters associated with the target location on the portion of skin. The target location is a target distance from the contact location that is equal to or greater than the circumferential distance. The controller controls the treatment composition component to selectively deposit the treatment composition on the roller surface in response to the one or more parameters associated with the target location on the portion of skin generated by the cutaneous measurement component.

  • Patent number: 10046137
Abstract: A method for insertion, maintenance, and removal of urethral catheters in mammals including humans includes steps for preventing or reducing the incidence of catheter associated urinary tract infections. In addition to sterile procedures currently practiced or as may be practiced in the future in connection with catheter use, the method includes the steps of applying an antiseptic, zwitterionic, and acidic skincare solution capable of preserving the stratum corneum to the perineum, meatus, and contiguous mucosa surrounding the insertion site before insertion, after insertion, periodically during the period of indwelling, in connection with any incidence of incontinence, and, optionally, before and after removal of the catheter. Application of the solution optionally is continued after catheter removal on a periodic basis until the threat of an infection associated with catheter use has passed, typically at least about five (5) to seven (7) days and up to thirty (30) days.

  • Patent number: 10046095
Abstract: A wound covering assembly includes a wound covering membrane and a removable layer. The wound covering membrane can allow liquid or air to pass through the wound covering membrane from a wound site covered by the wound covering membrane to ambient and vice versa. The removable layer covers a portion of the wound covering membrane and is removable from the wound covering membrane when the wound covering membrane is affixed to skin around the wound site. The removable layer is configured and connected with the wound covering membrane such that air and liquid are inhibited from passing through the wound covering membrane and the removable layer when the wound covering membrane is affixed to skin surrounding the wound site and the removable layer is connected with the wound covering membrane. • Patent number: 9956065
Abstract: A system and method of treating and protecting an injured claw of an animal. A claw cap is provided. The claw cap is an elastomeric cap that defines an interior compartment. A medicated compound may be provided within the interior compartment of the claw cap. The injured claw is advanced into the claw cap through the open end of the claw cap. The injured claw is exposed to the medicated compound within the interior compartment of the claw cap. The claw cap then engages the exterior of the injured claw with a friction fit. The claw cap remains on the injured claw as the animal resumes normal activities. The claw cap is removed once the medication has affected a significant degree of healing.

  • Patent number: 9907940
Abstract: A system and method for providing fluid to a tissue site is described. The method fluidly couples an instillation therapy system to the tissue site and monitors a pressure supplied to the tissue site by a reduced-pressure source with the instillation therapy system for a time period. The method provides fluid to the tissue site with the instillation therapy system in response to the pressure at the tissue site during the time period. The system includes a pressure sensor fluidly coupled to the tissue site to measure a pressure proximate the tissue site. A valve and a flow meter are fluidly between a fluid reservoir and the tissue site. A controller is communicatively coupled to the pressure sensor and the valve and configured to monitor the pressure at the tissue site and a volume of fluid flow to the tissue and, in response, operate the valve.
