Patent number: 10198157Abstract: In a method and a system for improving a user's experience with a graphical user interface corresponding to a gaming or simulation environment on an electronic device, the interface renders multiple graphical objects and user selectable options corresponding to the graphical object. The user selects one or more selectable option, and performs a touching or a swiping operation through multiple points on the display screen. The touching or swiping operation leads to deploying of multiple resources corresponding to the selected option, at different locations on the interface. For controlling the different deployed resources, the user can swipe through different regions of the display screen. The number of resources deployed at the different locations on the screen depends on certain parameters, including the pressure applied by the user on the screen. Results of the simulation can be employed to control real technical systems, for example for food production.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2013Date of Patent: February 5, 2019Assignee: SUPERCELL OYInventors: Timur Haussila, Touko Tahkokallio, Mikko Hokkanen, John Nicholas Derome, Lassi Leppinen

Patent number: 9674263Abstract: One method for managing remote display performance includes operations for embedding pixel data in a file of an application executing on a server, and detecting an open window of a graphical user interface (GUI) associated with the application. The pixel data is used to create a pixel strip in the window, while the GUI is being displayed on a remote display of a remote client. Update information for the GUI being displayed on the remote display is transmitted from the server to the remote client, the update information corresponding to the change in the presentation of the open window on the server. Further, a change in a presentation of the open window is detected, and a pixel strip received at the remote display is identified. A performance metric for the remote display is calculated based on the received pixel strip when compared to the expected values for the pixel strip.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2013Date of Patent: June 6, 2017Assignee: VMware, Inc.Inventors: Lawrence Spracklen, Banit Agrawal, Rishi Bidarkar

Patent number: 9671941Abstract: A computing device can utilize a recognition mode wherein an interface utilizes graphical elements, such as virtual fireflies, to indicate recognized or identified objects. Fireflies can be displayed near an input element to indicate that a recognition mode is available. When a user selects the input element, the fireflies can appear to emanate from the input element and disperse across the display screen. As objects are recognized, fireflies can create bounding boxes around those objects, or otherwise appear proximate those objects, to indicate recognition. The fireflies can again disperse as the objects fall out of view, and can begin moving towards new objects as features of those objects are identified as potential object features. A subsequent selection of the input element to exit recognition mode can cause the fireflies to appear to retreat to their original location in, or near, the input element.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2013Date of Patent: June 6, 2017Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Timothy Thomas Gray, Charles Eugene Cummins, Russell Edward Glaser, Tito Pagan, Steven Michael Sommer, Brian Peter Kralyevich, Angela Kathleen Warren, Marc Anthony Salazar, Suzan Marashi

Patent number: 9360998Abstract: An X-Y interaction (XYI) facilitates rapid relationship pairing by creating tap or selection zones that intersect variables. The y-axis contains an indefinite number of variables (items) that can be assigned to x-axis variables (groups). “Items” are individual bits of information or data, like a transaction, song, item, or a to-do task. “Groups” are predefined buckets that apply specific rules or actions or represent specific things or people. Items get assigned to groups, and then the rules are applied to them. Items along the y-axis can be organized based on where along an x-axis a user selects an item. The selection can be by tapping, and one item can be selected for multiple groups.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2012Date of Patent: June 7, 2016Assignee: PAYPAL, INC.Inventors: Russell Bauder, Egan Schulz

Patent number: 9274685Abstract: Embodiments relate to systems and methods for predictive text entry for small touch-screen devices. A two-state input interface (116) of a device (102) can include a seek area (120), which displays a subset of letters representing the full range of available letters. The user can select a first letter in that subset. A prediction engine (160) can generate a next most-likely letter (162) based on the currently inputted letter, using look-up tables or other techniques based on letter sequence probabilities. The user can respond with a right or left-swipe gesture, causing the prediction engine (160) to seek the most-likely next letter upstream or downstream in the alphabet. The user can also respond by touching the seek area causing the prediction engine (160) to seek the next predicted letter closest to the touch point. The prediction engine (160) can also generate a predicted completed word, for convenient user selection.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: March 1, 2016Assignee: Google Technology Holdings LLCInventors: Roger W Ady, Hui Dai, Jeong J Ma
