    Abstract: A method and apparatus for use as a compact medical ion accelerator includes a charged particle linear accelerator module and a pair of fixed field magnet assemblies. The linear accelerator module accelerates a pulse of charged particles as a beam aligned along a first ray. The pair of assemblies controls the orbits of the pulse by turning the pulse 360 degrees within a first plane. The magnet assemblies are disposed on opposite sides of the linear accelerator with mirrored symmetry relative to a line that is perpendicular to the first ray and passes through a reference point in the first plane. Each assembly includes a pair of magnets for which a strength of a magnetic field varies non-linearly along a radial direction; and a superconducting magnet for which a strength of a magnetic field varies along a radial direction. The superconducting magnet is disposed between the pair of magnets.

When the feeding portion supplies current, the current flows through the feeding portion and the first radiating section, and is coupled to the connecting portion through the gap to activate a first operating mode. When the feeding portion supplies current, the current flows through the feeding portion and the first radiating section, and is coupled to the coupling portion through the gap to activate a second operating mode.

    Abstract: A light emitting diode system allows for high current end user LED matrix applications while mitigating internal damage to control circuitry that may be caused by excess current flow. In one example, multiple switches operate in parallel across an LED. When an overvoltage condition is detected in a first switch, a logic circuit determines those switches programmed to operate in parallel and causes them to conduct current. This reduces the amount of current flowing through any one switch and mitigates harm to the device. The parallel configuration of switches may be driven by a single pulse width modulated current. This allows the drive current to be divided between parallel transistors, limiting the damaging effects that can be caused by high currents flowing through the transistors.
