  • Patent number: 8229468
Abstract: The present invention provides methods, devices, and systems for modeling optimized flow path assignments for signaling and media traffic in a network connected population of telecommunications systems. More specifically, optimum inter- and intra-system flow path assignments can be determined based on, for example, a virtual simulation of the telecommunications system. The optimization criteria may include flow path properties, flow path length, flow path element degradation of voice quality, monetary cost of flow path element usage, and flow path element contribution to overall system availability.

  • Patent number: 8194644
Abstract: A client/server network includes a plurality of IP devices in communication with a central server. The plurality of IP devices communicate with one another to queue themselves onto a linked list. The plurality of IP devices then connect to the central server in the order determined by the linked list. Prior to attempting to connect to the central server, each of the plurality of IP devices verifies that a number of IP devices currently attempting to connect to the central server is not equal to a maximum number.

  • Patent number: 8189563
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method, system and computer program product for deploying and delivering composite services in an NGN network. In one embodiment of the invention, a view coordination method for callers in a composite services enablement environment can include establishing for a single session, a first channel of access to a composite service providing a view to a first end point for the first channel of access associated with a first caller in a public switched telephone network (PSTN). The method further can include receiving a network address for second end point associated with a second caller in the PSTN telephonically coupled to the first caller over the PSTN. Responsive to receiving the network address, a second channel of access can be established to the composite service for the single session in order to provide the view to the second end point. Finally, changes of state can be synchronized for the view for each of the channels of access.

  • Patent number: 8184577
Abstract: A method of setting a transport block size for a user equipment in a wireless communications system includes providing a combination table for being looked up to generate a parameter value according to a combination of a modulation scheme and a number of channelization codes indicated by a base station, so as to decide a transport block size index, and configuring a first parameter value corresponding to a least resource usage in the combination table as a first transport block size index before deciding the transport block size index. The first transport block size index is a transport block size index corresponding to a smallest transport block size in a transport block size table, and the combination table and the transport block size table are used when quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) modulation, 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (16QAM) or 64 quadrature amplitude modulation (64QAM) is activated.

  • Patent number: 8176169
Abstract: A method of visualizing network data includes parsing a collection of packets in accordance with a set of categories related to characteristics of the collection of packets, the categories including listings of categorical elements, wherein at least some of the categorical elements are selectable by a user. When a categorical element is selected by a user, the collection of packets is filtered in accordance with the selected categorical element. Alongside each categorical element is a selectable count value that is indicative of the number of discrete communications sessions in which an associated categorical element is present in the collection of packets. When the count value is selected, a session view or views is/are created for each respective session, with content payload available for review and viewing.

  • Patent number: 8165156
Abstract: An Ethernet Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) and method of dynamically creating a service binding in the Ethernet DSLAM based on a service selection made by an end-user. The end-user may use the PPPoE or IEEE802.1X access protocols to provide login credentials indicating the desired service. The login credentials are validated towards a RADIUS server, which configures the Ethernet DSLAM with the attributes of the service binding, including an identified Permanent Virtual Circuit (PVC) to carry the desired service. The Ethernet DSLAM may map service-VLANs to user MAC addresses or to user-VLANs to establish the service binding. The Ethernet DSLAM uses the identified PVC for downstream traffic for the corresponding service binding and thereby “trains” a learning bridge network terminal to use the correct PVC for upstream traffic.

  • Patent number: 8160058
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for signaling a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) call based on a class of service in a VoIP service system, a database which includes VoIP signaling information differentiated by the class of VoIP service is built, and the database is retrieved by a service class assignment condition to produce a call setup message. The call setup message includes information related to the service class. Accordingly, it is possible to perform dynamic VoIP signaling by setting a differentiated service class based on each user or a primary factor of each class of the VoIP service.

  • Patent number: 8155109
Abstract: An SS7-based call protocol conversion gateway that translates between circuit-switched SS7 protocols and session initiation protocol (SIP) oriented protocol, allowing an E911 call initiated over a switched network to be routed by a VoIP network. The SS7-based call protocol conversion gateway provides a PSAP with MSAG quality (street address) information about a VoIP dual mode phone user without the need for a wireless carrier to invest in building out an entire VoIP core. Thus, wireless carriers may continue signaling the way they are today, i.e., using the J-STD-036 standard for CDMA and GSM in North America, yet see benefits of a VoIP network core, i.e., provision of MSAG quality location data to a PSAP.

  • Patent number: 8156208
Abstract: A service repository is used to store at least one service in association with service metadata describing service requirements of the service. The service repository also may store one or more platform-specific service executables. A service mapper is used to determine device metadata associated with each of a plurality of devices, where the device metadata provides device characteristics of the devices. The service mapper may thus map the service to a selected device of the plurality of devices for deployment thereon, based on a matching of corresponding elements of the service requirements and the device characteristics. The service mapper also may re-map the service between devices to maintain a quality and reliability of the service.

  • Patent number: 8149819
Abstract: An ENUM system includes a Web server and an ENUM server. The Web server stores first NAPTR records corresponding to an ENUM client and another ENUM client on an IP network. The ENUM server stores second NAPTR records in which first URIs are associated with predetermined information for being linked to the Web server. In the ENUM system, the ENUM client transmits, to the ENUM server, a query for the second NAPTR record of the another ENUM client. The ENUM client then transmits, to the Web server, a request for access to the first URI included in the received second NAPTR record, and obtains the first NAPTR record corresponding to the another ENUM client.

  • Patent number: 8134930
Abstract: A method of providing digital data services between a communications service provider and a customer site over a communications loop may include predicting a level of performance of the communications loop without coupling a modem to the communications loop at the customer site to provide a predicted level of performance of the communications loop. The communications loop may be qualified for an initial qualified level of digital data service based on the predicted level of performance of the communications loop. After qualifying the communications loop, digital data service may be provided over the communications loop at the initial qualified level using a modem coupled to the communications loop at the customer site, and a measured level of performance of the communications loop may be obtained based on data communicated between the communications service provider and the modem over the communications loop. The measured level of performance may then be compared with the predicted level of performance.
